hckošice 15,101 Posted November 4, 2022 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2022 (edited) Tamara Mesíková made it to the main round in Wisla https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=JP&raceid=6528 Already her 2nd WC main race after the 40th place in Oberhof last season which is still the nations best women ski jumping result ever, if she will manage to beat at least one opponent tomorrow, another huge pb and nr will be written into the recordbooks Btw I just did some googling to answer my own question, when was the last time a Slovak ski jumper won points in a World Cup race, and after a very long detective work I found that it was in Sapporo 1997 with a 1 valuable point earned by Marián Bielčík https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=JP&competitorid=4888&raceid=754 EDIT: Wrong, Martin Mesík was 29th in Engelberg in 2005. wow what a hero ! https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=JP&competitorid=39826&raceid=1991 Edited November 4, 2022 by hckošice Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/15336-ski-jumping-fis-world-cup-2022-2023/#findComment-504319 Share on other sites
Monzanator 4,610 Posted November 4, 2022 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2022 Ahem, the Slovakian sleuthing needs an upgrade The last Slovakian to win World Cup points in ski jumping was obviously Tamara's uncle Martin Mesik. I could have told you that without google Engelberg 2005: https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=JP&raceid=1991 Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/15336-ski-jumping-fis-world-cup-2022-2023/#findComment-504323 Share on other sites

To be fair, it was a bit suspicious, I was quite surprised that I did not find guys like Mesík nor zmoray there, so I checked once again and found the mistake I did Link to comment https://totallympics.com/forums/topic/15336-ski-jumping-fis-world-cup-2022-2023/#findComment-504332 Share on other sites

Monzanator 4,610 Posted November 5, 2022 #8 Share Posted November 5, 2022 Silje Opseth wins the first women's event ahead of Marita Kramer & Eva Pinkelnig. Frida Westman in 4th place (one whom a lot of Polosh fans want to do well given how Swedish ski jumping fell off in the last 25 years). Maren Lundby 16th on her comeback. Noticeable good results for Rautionaho (9th) and Strate (11th). No points for Tamara Mesikova who finished 35th splitting both Konderla & Rajda. Federer91 2,890 Posted November 5, 2022 #9 Share Posted November 5, 2022 Hopefully this will be the first and last snowless weekend we have. Frankly i would take having no starts at all, instead of this charade. Good win for Kubacki and Poland i guess, after his disastrous last season. Slovenia on the other hand nowhere to be seen.
