Already her 2nd WC main race after the 40th place in Oberhof last season which is still the nations best women ski jumping result ever, if she will manage to beat at least one opponent tomorrow, another huge pb and nr will be written into the recordbooks

 

Btw I just did some googling to answer my own question, when was the last time a Slovak ski jumper won points in a World Cup race, and after a very long detective work I found that it was in Sapporo 1997 with a 1 valuable point earned by Marián Bielčík https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=JP&competitorid=4888&raceid=754

 

EDIT: Wrong, Martin Mesík was 29th in Engelberg in 2005. wow what a hero !

Ahem, the Slovakian sleuthing needs an upgrade   The last Slovakian to win World Cup points in ski jumping was obviously Tamara's uncle Martin Mesik. I could have told you that without google

yes it was my stupid mistake I clicked on the wrong option when searching. To be fair, it was a bit suspicious, I was quite surprised that I did not find guys like Mesík nor zmoray there, so I checked once again and found the mistake I did

Silje Opseth wins the first women's event ahead of Marita Kramer & Eva Pinkelnig. Frida Westman in 4th place (one whom a lot of Polosh fans want to do well given how Swedish ski jumping fell off in the last 25 years). Maren Lundby 16th on her comeback. Noticeable good results for Rautionaho (9th) and Strate (11th).

 

No points for Tamara Mesikova who finished 35th splitting both Konderla & Rajda.

Hopefully this will be the first and last snowless weekend we have. Frankly i would take having no starts at all, instead of this charade.

 

Good win for Kubacki and Poland i guess, after his disastrous last season. Slovenia on the other hand nowhere to be seen.
