Just heard that one preliminary group will be in Košice (and :SVK will play all its 3 matches there :woot:, just like during the last Ice Hockey World Champs), well, it changes completely the situation. I think it would be quite a shame not to take advantage of this unique opportunity and not attend at least one match. So let watch some Handball live for the first time.

obviously will also depend on the tickets prizes. Have no idea how much they will cost but everything over 20 EUR for a handball match is a no, thank you.

Too bad it will be in January. Last time I went to an ECh it was the Waterpolo in January 2020 in Budapest.
Did not go to the finals or the semifinals (I think it was sold out completely), but the matches I went to were fun, except to close-to-0 or subzero temperature outside... (in non Olympic years the waterpolo ECh is generally in summer when its much more fun particularly in an open air venue)
In the end, I ended up attending more matches I originally wanted to (even a completely lopsided group match of HU women where they ended up winning 23-3 or something like that), little I knew back then that this is going to be the last live sport event I attend for a long long time....

Yeah, last live sport i attended was the Ice Hockey World Champs in 2019. exactly 2 years now. this is crazy how time flies..

Well, I want definitely give it a try, never watched a handball match live, and certainly I will never have that chance again, I mean come on, my NT is playing the Euro in my home city, some 2km from my home  Even if I am realistic and there no way we will win anything, it would be great to watch live some world stars of this sport and enjy the whole atmosphere. The 2 weeks Ice Hockey WCh 2019 was just awesome.

Will follow the Thursday draw to see who will play in Košice and then just hope the covid will be gone by then to have again some great sport atmosphere in the city and pick a game or two

so :NOR:RUS & :LTU in Košice.

If spectators will be allowed, I will try to book tickets for our match against :NOR and I will try also to attend :NOR vs :RUS match which should be a good one.

and it is possible

the government has just granted an exemption to the tournament. :)Spectators are allowed up to 25% capacity of arenas. They however must be vaccinated twice or healed from the virus for at least 180 days + obviously everybody must wear mask.

will try to book a ticket

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
    • The worst editions in XXI century for us were Vancouver: 5 medals (only 1 gold for Razzoli's on the penultimate day) and Sochi: 8 medals (but no gold). Turin was already a prelude to this bad period, although the number of gold medals was ok. Overall we won fewer medals at home than in 2002 and this was probably the only case in the 21st century when the host country won fewer medals at home than 4 years earlier, either in summer or winter. In general the years 2008-2016 were very bad in our sport, both in summer and winter. Only 2018 in Korea was a slight rebuild + 2 fantastic summer editions in Tokyo and Paris. in Beijing 2022 we won a lot of medals - 17 but only 2 gold (If it weren't for Gogga's injury, I think it would have been 4 gold).
    • Totallympics had  users at one point, but I haven't seen any hanging around in a while.
    • In terms of total medals, yes. In terms of golds, I’d be fine with anywhere from 6-8.   @intoronto you don’t think we’ll do better or at least the same? Bit surprising.
