Elvira oeberg is out for the relay, she doesn't feel quite fit. Now Linn Persson has to step in who only had one day of training yesterday. The problem is, there is nobody else left, who could race.

Sweden of all teams having nobody else left, damn. Still should be a very solid podium candidate of course. If Öberg had said that a bit earlier, surely they could have let someone come over from Pokljuka's IBU Cup team...

A question which maybe is stupid but do the teams needs to participate in relays if many of the athletes are sick? What about to simple skip at least one run to get the athletes time to recover? Maybe there are rules about it?

what I mean is Linn really ready or is she in the team only because there’s no other that can do it?

Teams can and sometimes do withdraw from relays, you're perfectly allowed to do so. Usually those are the lower-ranked teams, such as Bendika taking some rest and so the Latvian single mixed relay having a DNS last week, or Belgium that sometimes has a full team and sometimes doesn't.

There's no reason why the top teams can't do the same if they wish.

No, they can withdraw but obviously it costs ranking points which determine how many racers start in the personal races & World Champs.  So you don’t want to withdraw.

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
    • option no.2 for sure, as it's been all this shitstorm organized by the nhl owners through their embedded reporters   ps not that the north american audience looks really aware of the hockey rules and habits outside the nhl (and around their game, too, since they look not to know that just a couple of weeks ago they played 2 nhl matches on an ice sheet of the exact same size of Milan's olympic arena)
    • Are we supposed to take Daly's word for it or is this just public posturing to try and shame the Milan organizers (which they certainly deserve for all the delays) in order to threaten NHL participation?
