I am not speaking about conditions, these are bad everywhere in Europe now. I pointed the amount of DNF in that race, 21 skiers which is a 1/3 of the starters, quite unusual.

 

In Ga-Pa 16 skiers DNF the first round, which is high number as well.

Outside of the usual travel issues there comes the otherwise priority for football (both NFL & college) and even NBA. North America would have to stage races in November/early December or March like it used to until the late 80s. With Lake Louise set to be dropped the NA venues are being scaled back as we speak anyway and if it wasn't for Shiffrin we wouldn't even have the Killington races IMO. Men's speed races in Beaver Creek would be the only NA round.

There is lots of potential in the NA though. Mid-week races in the Sunshine would be prime time in Europe, for instance...
