All quotas known (at least in theory), qualification process complete. Just over 25 days to go until the games!

And again :IND fail to qualify a single athlete

I wish the sprint skiing events had like universality spots for any country failing to qualify to be able to send 1 man or 1 woman or maybe in short track speed skating or speed skating something like that. Unless there isn't 140-150 nations participating at minimum these will not attract interest in youth. Though most nations may not have snow at least qualifications or invitations can help their citizens residing in Europe or America with colder conditions to join the team and qualify. I'm against having athletes from other countries participating after getting citizenship but rather those which have origin from the respective countries but residing elsewhere.

In most sports all eligible athletes qualified. Cross Country Skiing and Alpine Skiing gave spots to every country that had a youth skier. India just didn’t have any winter youth athletes (or not any who could meet very easy qualification marks).

That's because our federation doesn't even know these games exist.

Well the you can’t really blame the IOC/FIS. They’ve promoted these games well, and really India could have qualified a skier without knowing they exist because of how basic the requirements are. I am sad that India doesn’t get to participate, especially since they’ve always sent good delegations to the Asian Winter Games.

IOC just doesn't promote winter yog much. Even when Bach met IOA president  winter sports was never in discussion . The federations aren't rich and government doesn't think there's any chance. So if you're rich you can participate. Something like Summer YOG is much more easier to follow especially when some already famous athletes are participating.

Mean while Odisha vs Mumbai for a 2026 summer YOG bid ,IOA made it clear. Even Delhi is there but water sports are difficult so is pollution.

The problem lies more with the IOA. They’ve failed to invest in winter sports really. Every federation is being kept alive by grassroots organization. There’s nothing wrong with that it just limits the possibilities. Information about the 2020YOG was very accessible. Every qualification document was posted well in advance. There’s been social media marketing, and the IOC has run frequent notices about the games. I just think the IOA weren’t interested in sending a representative.

Plus one can assume youth skiers who would potentially be eligible have some interest in their own sport...and thus would know of the existence of this event, and make sure the federation at least is aware of it's existence. Indeed, blaming IOC/FIS really makes no sense at all.

    • Greece and Portugal also have winter sports centres - but of course these are not homologated routes for World Cup competitions I have never been to Albania personally, so I don't know the country at all. I have been in southern Croatia, though, and there are mountains there but you definitely can't ski there (I was there in the summer, but it's also impossible in the winter). World cup taking place there only in Zagreb.    In general the case of Colturi and Kostelic is completely different: Colturi has no ties to Albania and Janica Kostelic was Croatian and didn't left their country even though at the beginning of her carrier (and also her brother Ivica) her father had to pay for everything and the federation's support was zero. This only changed later. I imagine that the Kostelic family had offers from other countries (Austria, Switzerland, Italy?) to compete for them, which were much richer (at the beginning of the 21st century Croatia was a very poor country and devastated by war). All the more respect for them because they were true Croatian patriots until the end. I can imagine the Colturi family in a similar situation... Her mother would probably negotiate with half of Alpine Europe for Lara to compete for them Which of course doesn't change the fact that the Italian federation completely gave a shit in this situation. They let such talent go in a situation where they hasn`t a single female athlete on the podium of the World Cup in slalom for a dozen or so years. In the giant slalom it's not much better either, only there the older athletes cloud the picture: Brignone and Bassino. However, behind these two there is absolutely nothing...
    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.

    • GSOC Kioti National (I usually determine if I’m watching right before), NHL/NBA/NFL (same teams as usual), club season volleyball, BPT Challenge Nuvali, UCI Track Cycling Nations League, and winter sports galore    Wednesday (November 27) 4:30 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Penguins 7:00 PM: NBA - Warriors v. Thunder   Thursday (November 28) 8:30 AM: Club Volleyball - Vakif v. Vero Volley Milano   Friday (November 29) 12:00 or 1:00 AM: ISU Speed Skating WC Beijing - Day 1 10:00 AM: UCI Track Cycling Nations League Round 2 Apeldoorn 12:00 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Sabres   Saturday (November 30) 12:00 or 1:00 AM: ISU Speed Skating WC Beijing - Day 2 5:45 AM: FIS Moguls WC Ruka  7:00 AM: FIS Women’s Giant Slalom WC Killington Run 1 (on a split screen for around 20-25 min) 10:00 AM: FIS Women’s Giant Slalom WC Killington Run 2 3:30 PM: GSOC Kioti National - Semifinals 6:00 PM: NBA - Warriors v. Suns (maybe not…) 9:00 PM: FIS Freestyle Skiing Big Air WC Beijing    Confused because CBC Sports says it starts a hour later than on the FIS site? Probably will watch some luge in between.    Sunday (December 1) 12:00 or 1:00 AM: ISU Speed Skating WC Beijing - Day 3 (two screens, lesser priority) 12:30 AM: FIL Luge WC Lillehammer - Men’s Singles 2:00 AM: FIS Snowboarding Big Air WC Beijing  8:00 AM: GSOC Kioti National - Women’s Final 9:30 AM: NHL - Canucks v. Red Wings (… seriously, I don’t have the energy to be watching NHL games at 9am) 12:30 PM: GSOC Kioti National - Men’s Final 5:20 PM: NFL - Bills v. 49ers   Monday (December 2) … absolutely nothing    Tuesday (December 3) 5:00 PM: NHL - Canucks v. Wild 7:00 PM: NBA - Warriors v. Nuggets (split screen, but hoping it gets delayed due to another game going to OT or ending late)   Wednesday (December 4) 2:00 AM: BPT Finals Doha - Day 1

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
