Opening ceremony LIVE on Eurosport Player it seems. More about events of first day in 24h.

Just for clarification, it’s not live currently. It will be shown on the 9th.

I just read on the news that Iran will send 6 athletes (3 boys 3 girls) to the YOG,  it will be the biggest delegation ever for Iran in any kind of Winter Olympics

and in the article I read, the journalist asked about what's the point of participation in Winter sports when Iran didn't improve even an inch after decades of just participating ?! and I'm kind of agree with that. while most of winter sports don't even exist here but at least Alpine, Cross-country and snowboard have a long history here. specially Alpine skiing.

most countries never have snow so they have valid reasons to never achieve anything in winter sports but that's not the case here, the thing is nobody cares about winter sports so why bother to participate ?

but still I wish the best of luck for those 6 young athletes. hopefully they won't finish last here :d

I believe Iran will be participating in Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, and Ski Mountaineering. Iranian participation is always welcome.

Better than we're getting here.  I have seen absolutely no mention of the Games anywhere by NBCUniversal.  Even TV guide listings don't have the coverage mentioned, although the US version of Olympic Channel does have it in their program listings.  Looks like it will be a 2 hour window for the Opening Ceremony with 3 hour nightly windows during the games, so that's certainly an improvement over 4 years ago.

Full live coverage available on OC (online platform) and YouTube in the US.

Isn't the ceremony exactly on 9th?

Yes, but your post made it sound like it was live then, and it wasn’t :d

Just because I used a tendency of decreasing the role of future tenses and use present tense while meaning the future...

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.
