Not everyone knows much about all the sports & events, certainly I don't, so I am very interested in what people - who surely follow some sports more than me - think: who should win in this poll.

@thiago_simoes what you think about gymnastics here?

@MHSN any thoughts on wrestling, if you don't mind?

@phelps as a fencing fan - among 100+ other sports :-))) - is always here, thank you very much for that, always nice to read! what are your thoughts again? and maybe @Vektor would like to add his choice as well...  or all the others. I'm sorry if I forgot someone.

maybe we have someone who knows more about modern pentathlon here as well... :-)

waiting for your words of wisdom, all your votes and comments.

Bye!

But don’t get me wrong - of course EVERYONE is invited to vote here!

A hard call... Parallel bars is my least favorite event in gymnastics. I'll go with Verniayev although he's not the most daring gymnast in the world.

Difficult choice for the track cycling mens sprint between Hoy, Kenny and Lavreysen. The latter is super dominant at the moment, but the others have a greater legacy built up already.

Artistic Gymnastics, men's Parallel Bars...not an easy choice, because I don't follow the sport closely and because this is one of the events that I don't like more than others (only the Floor exercise is more boring to me)...

I go with :CHN Li Xiaopeng, mainly because he's the only gymnast to win the event twice in this Century...

Wrestling, Freestyle, men's Superheavyweights...here I go with :USA Bruce Baumgartner because Taymazov is just a cheater, even if on the mat he looked really great and I used to be his fan...

Modern Pentathlon, women's Individual...no brainer, :LTU Laura Asadauskaite is surely the strongest and most complete pentathlete among all those who had the privilege of winning an Olympig gold medal...

Fencing, men's Individual Foil...always considering that's almost impossible (and unfair) to compare such different ages, I have no doubt that :ITA Nedo Nadi is on top of the list...

Cycling Track, men's Individual Sprint...trying not to be biased, I have to pick :FRA Daniel Morelon, most likely the GOAT of this discipline...

mention of honor for the great Lutz Hesslich, but he has somehow to pay the prize for the system he grew up in...

for what concerns the modern specialists, I just can't pick them because they're only power, they can only put themselves in front of the race and push hard, they just can't show any trick, any "magic" on the track (I know it's mainly the modern rules' fault, but still)...

the last guy on that list that could show something unusual was Ryan Bailey, but frankly I've never liked the Australian (very dirty) style of racing and I have more than one concern on them being clean in the other sense (remember the Michelin man Steven Pate?)

    • How come there are 2 quotas for TPE and 1 for GBR?   And Jesus Brazil, if only they had been like "oh ok, we are on the U23 relay start list, sure, we will actually start and pick up 35 free points".   Deep, deep sigh.

    • Oh ya, that must have been a completely devastating result for them. The Olympic medal / Asian games gold medal exemption is just about the only socially acceptable way to skip military service in South Korea, and by all accounts South Korean military service *sucks*.

    • Cha Jun-hwan has won the men’s single in figure skating which means, importantly, military service exemption!
    • It's pretty cool all 5 sang along with the anthem
    • Philippines wins over South Korea 5-3 in men’s curling. Never thought I’d see the Philippines win a medal at the Asian Winter Games. And a gold medal too!
