50 years old Noriaki Kasai ended 3rd in a national race in Hakuba last night, where he even beat some jumpers from this summer´s Grand Prix

Antonin Hajek :CZE has been missing for well over a month, and there are quite some worries. Rumours say he was supposed to go to Asia, and a while ago a Czech person has been found dead in Malaysia, with no information about their identity being released yet due to the pending investigation..

I see even reddit quotes a Polish article as we're probably the only country in the world which has so much interest in the sport. The "mystery" ski jumper whom Hajek had an affair with is Karolina Indrackova.

Yeah, he divorced with his ex-wife Veronika because of this affair. Apparently he is not in a very good mental state and probably wants to stay off site for some time....... I think he is alright and when the time comes, he will come back.

Funnily enough Hajek's wedding also made the news here back in the day as evidence there are signs of life at the Harrachov hill ;)

Yeah, back in a day, it was terrible. One would think everything is going to fall apart. But thanks to all the old dudes who still have time a patience to take care of everything, the place remained, just last weekend, they were making artificial snow. Seems brighter days for Harrachov's hills are coming ;-)

Noriaki Kasai is alive! :hyper:

This morning at the Continental Cup he had his first competition as a 50-year old! Sure, 37th, but still! And tomorrow he can go again, twice even! :cheer: #roadtocortina2026

34th for Kasai today, ahead of Maciej Kot, and Kot was once able to do stuff, so there you go! :cheer:

He didn't start in the second Continental Cup of the day, an hour or so later :(

    • Sablikova started on the road cycling and just almost qualified for Rio 2016. Maybe Lollobrigida would like to join the Italian track team? She has the good character and 2 medals at the Olympics, one in winter and one in summer, would be a legendary achievement, not only in Italy.   https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martina_Sáblíková
    • One Wiebes is worth more than the all Italian team with Balsamo/Fidanza, etc., that much clear. Even if the Netherlands loses its dominance in the men's sprint, Wiebes will win 2-3 gold medals in other events. Just relax, man.
    • I'm most worried about our women's team in the pursuit – we have a reserve squad, but not advancing to the top 8 is a shame. We recently competed with out 1 team and had not good in 1 round. It doesn't look good. And the Netherlands are already taking Wiebes to the track team and will soon dominate the Madison/Omnium as well. Balsamo and Paternoster haven't made any progress for years and the our women's team at the Olympics has little chance to win a medal. Italy might even win World Championship/European Championship gold in the years after the Olympics, etc., but when the real fight comes, the UK or the USA will always beat us
    • Track cycling is one of the few sports where there is no host nation quota, so  will need to work hard to achieve our quotas.  It's not our best sport, but was happy to see Top 10 results in the Elimination Race for Grant Koontz and Emma Jimenez Palos (who is just 18!).
    • Yes, I saw the same thing you did @clemsonbeav (on both accounts) but I agree it looks pretty stock.
    • Also, I just logged back into my account, where it sent me to update my profile, and when I saved that, I got a screen that included a check mark next to 'Registered for the Draw'.  Not sure I totally trust it, but it does at least say so.  (There's nothing specifically referencing Drop 2 or anything...might just be a stock screen.). I'm curious what it would look like if you looked at it @esube.  https://tickets.la28.org/
    • I didn't buy any tickets, but didn't get the e-mail.   We bought tickets on my wife's account (earlier timeslot), but not 12, and she got the e-mail.

    • I am very curious.  We got extremely lucky in the first ticket drop, both my and my wife's emails were selected for relatively early time slots-- early enough that we bought our full allotment of tickets for good stuff.  Not swimming or gymnastics of course, but we were really pleased,  d   But today I received an email on one of those accounts saying that we were entered into the second drop because we hadn't used up our 12 ticket allotment.  I went back and counted-- twice-- and yes, we certainly did purchase 12 tickets on that account.      I am not sure I want any more!  Did this happen to anybody else?
