Canada with a 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 25-17, 24-26, 15-13) victory over Cuba in the semifinals, and we're through to the final where we'll face the United States! :cheer:

Maar had 28 points (led all players), Szwarc had 22 (including 9 in the first set), and Lui had some excellent digs throughout the match. Sammelvuo doing a great job with this squad.

Olympic Qualifiers (for the men) are in a couple of weeks, this is a huge momentum boost for us. Improves our chances at qualification from 1% to 2% :p

All matches are being live-streamed on Volleyball Source's YouTube channel, for anyone who wants to watch. Great commentators (Unlike the one at the Women's NORCECA Championships, who sounded like he'd never watched a single game of international volleyball in his life :p), and great coverage as well (Only thing I would change would be the size of the scoreboard on the live-stream, as it's covering some of the in/out lines on the court)

OH CANADA :CAN:CAN:CAN

Canada started the Women's Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers on a winning note, defeating Netherlands 3-2 (32-30, 19-25, 15-25, 25-17, 15-13) :cheer::cheer::cheer:

Pretty poor performance from them in sets 2 and 3, surprised that they managed to find something in the end (they were also down 8-10 in set 5)

Celestine Plak led Netherlands with 23 points (17 attacks, 4 blocks, 2 aces), while Nika Daalederop scored 21 points (20 attacks, 1 block). For Canada, Alexa Gray led with 28 points (26 attacks, 2 blocks), with Kiera Van Ryk tallying up 19 points (18 attacks, 1 block). Brie King MVP though IMO, she made some huge digs and had some excellent set choices.

Up next, :DOM at 10:00PST/1:00AM EST

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
    • Which I guess is part of why unfortunately 'our' first wild card attempt of the season was rejected last week
