This could also be a Couple Challenge for Domracheva/Bjorndalen. If one of them doesn't perform well here, who knows if they will still be a couple on Sunday? :p

It's Biathlon! What is more important than that? :p

It seems they take it quite serious.

The World Team Challenge is a commercial biathlon competition, which is held every year after Christmas since 2002 in Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen. This edition might be particularly interesting to biathlon fans as three recently retired biathlon legends will participate, including Anton Shipulin, Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjørndalen.

Teams:

?? Yurlova-Percht / Shipulin

?? I Preuss/Schempp

?? II Hermann/Doll

???? Domracheva / Bjørndalen

?? Dzhyma / Pryma

?? Wierer / Hofer

?? Tachizaki / Tachizak

?? Hauser / Landertinger

?? Bescond / Jacquelin

?? Vitkova / Krčmár

Well, putting Shipulin in a list of legends with OEB and Domracheva might be a bit too much :d But yeah I agree, it'll be interesting

Wow!

Got a bit excited there with the prospect of Darya/Bjoerndalen win, but still, managed to get to 3rd is great. Didn't think it can be done. Nice race.

    • Kudos to you bud, I don't think anyone was happy with the performance by Canada all tournament, but we all stayed on until the end. Take as much time as you need.
    • As new sports I would add cyclocross with the condition it needs to be contested on snow. I would add ice climbing in speed and lead events. I would add freeride ski and snowboard. For new events I would add team sprint events in speed skating, women's Nordic combined, mixed team ski cross, mixed team parallel giant slalom, women's team ski jumping and add longer distance ski mountaineering events.    If there was room on the schedule I would also expand curling to 12 teams in each event.   In total I would add around 20 events for a total of 136 events. Cyclocross-3 Ice climbing-4 Freeride-4 Speed skating-2 Ski jumping-1 Nordic combined-2 Mixed team ski cross-1 Mixed team parallel giant slalom-1 Ski mountaineering-2
    • Hey everyone , now that the Olympics are over just wanted to make an announcement that I'll be taking a break from posting on Totallympics for the most part, and watching sports. Mentally these games have broke me in so many ways, and I need time to reset. Not sure for how long, at least a week, but I'll be back for the Paralympics.   I thought taking time to reflect over the past week and a half, it would make Grondin's silver feel better, it didn't at all. I still think about it all the time and it hurts. Just upset, frustrated, and disappointed that he was a photo finish away from gold... again, and I'd trade half of our medals for the colour to be changed.    Not to mention Canada only won 21 medals, 5-7-9, which is our lowest total since Salt Lake City 2002 with less events, but whatever I got used to it half a week ago...
    • Otherwise the tournament has been excellent in ice hockey, and overall too. 😊
    • Overtime being 3-on-3 is such a bad rule, especially in a final.
    • NBC had a lovely special after the ceremony...even highlighted some non-USA athletes.  Perhaps a few Americans will know Klaebo's name now!  There was even a segment highlighting the Italian medallists, that this was a record year for them, too.   (Best of Milan Cortina, on Peacock, if you can access it.)
