Our wiightlifting team for European Championships in Norway

Amar Music

Ensar Music

Ivan Biocic

Silvio Bijelic

Georgije Bogojevic

Ante Vukovic

Adam Mesaros

Tea Sojat

Mihaela Kruljac

Quite numerous team... Our coach Bosko Cavka said that we might have a chance to achieve one quota for Rio. I hope that we cane make it, but Idon't think that we have god enough team to do so.

obviosuly they are targeting  to be in the top 7 non qualified teams, which would mean a quota, but honestly i doubt it, as you said the team is too weak and there are too many european nations still without quota

We might get reallocated quota/wild card if we fail to reach top-7. Back in 2012 for example, both Belgium and Finland received a wild card for men's weightlifting events. So, nations that are of similar caliber to Croatia (in both weightlifting and sport in general). The fact that we have some Olympic medals in weightlifting might help our case.

And this time there might be even more reallocations. Some nations will probably have their quotas reduced because of multiple doping cases (Romania is already confirmed for example). All of those quotas will become wild cards.

Georgije Blagojević is currently in last place in men's -56kg at weightlifting Europeans, with a result of 148 kilos. To put his result into perspective, he would have been in 16th place of women's -48kg with that result.

At least he'll get good points for team ranking because he can finish no lower than 15th (due to small number of lifters in that category).

This is really a joke, but I guess that was the idea. Still will not be enough

Zoran Primorac wins his first match at the Table Tennis EQ gainst Udra (LIT) 4-3.

Surprisingly close match as Udra is only number 320 in the ranking. That should be enough to advance to the main round (R64). He still plays gainst Gorak (POL) and Peto (SRB). Best 3 advance to the main round, but ranking in the group is important to avoid good players in the main round.

Tan Ruiwu plays against Golovanov (BUL), Rasmussen (DEN) and Pattantyus (HUN). Gacina is already qualified for the main round. He is probably anway save for Olympics and will qualify via ranking if he does not manage here.

Ladies:

Rakovac play against Shao (POR) and Toliou (GRE)

Tian plays against Pavlovich (BLR) and Stuckyte (LIT). According to my understanding they are both already safe for the main round as in group of 3 players, it is only about better starting position.

Tubikanec plays against Piccolin (ITA), Strbikova (CZE), Eerland (NED).

Looking at the rankings, Gaćina is currently the only one who is in qualification position (even if we exclude athletes that are likely going to qualify at Asian/European qualifications). So, this tournament might be the only chance for others to qualify, and this is a really hard tournament to do so because none of the Europeans is already qualified (except Baku 2015 winners...).
