Italy needs all the active players from this list (and we would have needed also the already retired players, when they were on top of their game)...

however, what we really need is: a) money...a lot of money, b) infrastrucures, c) kids that really want to play (and why not? succeed in a hockey career), d) most important to start with, interest by our media (to make money and bring up kids, which would lead to building more infrastrucures and so on...we do really need a virtuous circle that's impossible right now and with all our current political and sports leaders)...

Breaking: The Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation has withdrawn its bid to co-host the 2023 @IIHFHockey Men’s World Championship with Slovenia. That leaves Riga/Tampere as the remaining bidder.

Uncomfirmed, but sources here in Helsinki say the Hungarian government withdrew it’s support for the bid when news broke that Russia and Belarus will likely be barred from competing in @IIHFHockey events again in 2023. The Hungarian government has strong ties to Russia. https://t.co/KIQwD6efWG

Interesting, I always thought that if Russia stopped the invasion before the end of 2022 (probably more hopeful than realistic), they would be brought back for the 2023 sporting season in which case this decision would be a bit premature.

 

If the other summer sports follow through with the same plan then it'll have a lot of implications for qualification to the 2024 Olympics.
