OMG,THE UK IS BOYCOTTING,THE WORLD IS ENDING,i don't think you realize how many people will not care.

Except that the UK isn't boycotting :d

It would obviously be a bit of a serious deal if they do (and if other countries follow), simply because they're one of the top-10 countries in world sports, but....they're not boycotting....that's just not going to happen, it's hard to find words on how to make that even clearer :d

Either they might refuse to compete or in the much more entertaining case, might turn out to be a bloodbath, probably option one so the Iran/israel thing

That's what I thought, but aren't there more head-to-head sports than only combat sports? :p

However, World Athletics said its position remains unchanged, with athletes, support personnel and officials from Russia and Belarus remaining excluded "from all World Athletics Series events".

"We will continue to monitor the situation, but unless there is a major change in circumstances between now and the Olympic Games, this exclusion will apply to Paris 2024," World Athletics said.

Any nation besides Ukraine won't boycot unless maybe when Ukraine asks them. And even then it is only maybe at best.

What I think is most problematic is that many of these Russian athletes could have doped themselves to hell and back the last years because there was no regulation whatsoever. Really helps in training. On the other hand, missing relevant international competition really sets back, so maybe it evens out.

Honestly I'd think being able to dope untested for several years is way, way, way more of a positive (no pun intended) influence on one's performance than the lack of international competition being a negative one. Especially in sports where Russians are world class, their own internal competitions are plenty strong enough to make up for the lack of international competition.

And as we know, doping effects stay (at least partially) basically for your entire career, even if you've stopped years ago.
