Time for Event #2 in our IMAGINARY SUMMER OLYMPICS series.

These are olympic champions in certain event.

Imagine that all these champions are on the top of their game at the very same moment in time.

Who would have won gold?

Be aware that the voting ends at Sunday Feb 27th 10 a.m. CET.

There were questions where these imaginary olympics take place. In Poland, obviously. Warsaw and around.

Our medal table after 1 event:

:UKR 1-0-0---1

:CUB 0-1-0---1

:CAN 0-0-1---1

:GBR 0-0-1---1

@phelps thank you for your ranking list again!!!

I agree with Flessel on top.

But why did you place Timea Nagy so low? She is the only one who is a double olympic champion in this event.

I'm new to these polls. do you want to compare athletes from different Olympics? that will be a bit hard since they changed weights in wrestling so many times.

but in men's freestyle I would suggest a middle weight, 74-76kg. or you can go for the super heavyweight (if it was Greco-Roman I would surely suggest the supper heavyweight)

because someone has to go that low...:dunno:

I think from number #3 through #5 man could even give a tie, since all of those athletes have reached the immortal goal of winning the Olympic Games, but I also took into consideration their full career, and Nagy was less consistent than the other 2 in the other circuits (world cup, world champs), at least in the individual events (she won a lot of gold medals, but often in the team event)...

still, it's always my personal opinion...I do not pretend anybody to agree...and surely I'm not the "revealed truth" at all...;)

Yes, that's exactly the purpose of these polls!!!

I'll try to make around 10-15 polls like that and we'll see how it works and if people here are interested in them, we'll continue...

This is a kind of buildup to Paris 2024 so the plan is having exactly 329 events included, according to Paris 2024 programme.

https://stillmedab.olympic.org/media/Document Library/OlympicOrg/News/2020/12/Paris-2024-Event-Programme.pdf

And then we will have some kind of medal table and youtube video archives with our champs of the champs here.

You are right with changing weights in wrestling so many times. Trying to avoid this problem here, I will use this wikipedia list, showing current olympic program.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Olympic_medalists_in_freestyle_wrestling#Super_heavyweight

The same with boxing, weightlifting and others...

And I obviously don't know much about many sports so if you're interested I will always look for your comments and suggestions in every poll, sports like wrestling, weightlifting, taekwondo, judo above all, if I remember your interests correctly

And I'm waiting for comments and suggestions from all the other users as well, ofc

Ok. Thanks for this one.

I like your ranking lists very much because when there's a tie, we need to find out how to decide who gets 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively.

For now, I think I will have to decide it by myself ;)

But I will always use your rankings and all the other users suggestions and rankings as an advice obviously

I have so many ideas about these series of polls.

I really hope they will turn into sth interesting and more users will get involved.

As I wrote here earlier, despite war and politics, we all need some kind of relief and joy and this is my idea for that.

My biggest concern for these polls so far is that my fav summer olympic sports are defenitely swimming and athletics.

And I would love to have these sports included in the polls.

But to choose the best olympic champion in the poll may make no sense if we probably should just look at their PBs and things should be obvious.

But on the other hand, why not try it.

Men's pole vault - would Duplantis win if he sees Bubka in his best form (not Barcelona 92 form) standing besides him? All the mind games, form of the day, dealing with pressure, we may take it all into the consideration here.

Would Bubka have jumped higher in his career if he had access to all the today's training methods and equipment???

I think those are interesting questions and I will add some athletics and swimming polls here soon as well.

Have a good weekend, everyone! Stay safe!

@Illya if you need any help for you or any Ukrainian friend or family in Poland, you can always write to me on priv. Stay safe, all the best wishes for you!
