Imaginary Summer Olympics - Poll #1a - The Games Must Go On - yes or not?

Due to what is going on in Ukraine and across - let's call it - Eurasia right now, should we keep making these Imaginary Summer Olympics Polls or should we get rid of them and focus on helping those who we should help in real life these days and not waste time on useless things.

This question was raised back in 1972 and I personally still don't know what the correct answer was back then.

And now it's time to repeat it.

I'm not going to give any vote on this, but I can tell you that this forum should be our "fantasy island" where we can find some relief from the awful news running in these days...

and therefore I think that there's nothing bad or a lack of respect for anybody if you (we) decide to continue to write about beautiful things also in this dark period  instead of being focus only and exclusively on watching how a bunch of idiots are trying to destroy the world and ruin people's lives for I don't know which purposes?

in any case, I'm going to respect and accept your decision, whatever it is...;)

by the way, I have in mind a couple of questions that might be used for a poll...

for instance, should IOC take some kind of decision (political decision) on this question and sanction Russia also in sports terms?

could this be a perfect opportunity for the IOC to put the end mark on their fight against Russia and throw them out of the window for a long while using this war as a pretext for what they haven't been capable to do when they had to?

    • I'm curious to see if she survives beyond the trimester or even Kontiolahti. In the past, we've often heard that the Swedes are in particularly good form at the start. I still remember Johanna Skottheim the most, she also had a dream week in Kontiolahti four years ago and nothing worked from Hochfilzen onwards. She's still competing in the IBU Cup, but won't make it into the World Cup. We'll have completely different snow conditions in Hochfilzen next week, so everything will start all over again.
    • First Best-on-Best International tournament since 2016… it deserves it’s own thread.
    • Antoni Kowalski actually won his R1 frame/match
    • If there's separate threads for division III international tournaments, I don't see why we can't have an individual thread for the most high powered ice hockey tournament of the year. The World Cup of Hockey in 2016 was a similar event and it had its own thread.
    • I’ll for sure be watching, but does this really need it’s own thread? I’m sure at most 5-7 users on here will be watching it, and we can discuss it on the main NHL thread
    • Four Nations Face Off rosters have been announced.     Canada Forwards: Sam Bennett (FLA), Anthony Cirelli (TBL), Sidney Crosby (PIT), Brandon Hagel (TBL), Seth Jarvis (CAR), Travis Konecny (PHI), Nathan MacKinnon (COL), Brad Marchand (BOS), Mitch Marner (TOR), Connor McDavid (EDM), Sam Reinhart (FLA), Mark Stone (VGK) Defenseman: Cale Makar (COL), Josh Morrisey (WPG), Colton Parayko (STL), Alex Pietrangelo (VGK), Travis Sandheim (PHI), Shea Theadore (VGK), Devon Toews (COL) Goalies: Jordan Binnington (STL), Adin Hill (VKG), Sam Montembeault (MTL)    United States Forwards: Matt Boldy (MIN), Kyle Connor (WPG), Jack Eichel (VGK), Jake Guentzel (TBL), Jack Hughes (NJD), Chris Kreider (NYR), Dylan Larkin (DET), Auston Matthews (TOR), JT Miller (VAN), Brock Nelson (NYI), Brady Tkachuk (OTT), Matthew Tkachuk (FLA), Vincent Trocheck (NYR) Defenseman: Brock Faber (MIN), Quinn Hughes (VAN), Adam Fox (NYR), Noah Hanifin (VGK), Charlie McAvoy (BOS), Jaccob Slavin (CAR), Zach Werenski (CBJ) Goalies: Connor Hellybuyck (WPG), Jake Oettinger (DAL), Jeremy Swayman (BOS)   No Cole Caufield or Tage Thompson      Finland Forwards: Sebastian Aho (CAR), Joel Armia (MTL), Aleksander Barkov (FLA), Roope Hintz (DAL), Kappo Kakko (NYR), Eric Haula (NJD), Patrik Laine (MTL), Artturi Lehkonen (COL), Eetu Luostarinen (FLA), Mikko Rantanen (COL), Teuvo Taravainen (CHI), Anton Lundell (FLA) Defenseman: Jani Hakanpaa (TOR), Miro Heiskanen (DAL), Esa Lindell (DAL), Niko Mikkola (FLA), Olli Maatta (UTA), Rasmus Ristolainen (PHI), Juuso Valimaki (UTA) Goalies: Juuse Saros (NSH), Kevin Lankinen (VAN), Ukko-Pekka (BUF)   Sweden Forwards: Viktor Arvidsson (EDM), Jesper Bratt (NJD), Leo Carlsson (ANA), Joel Eriksson Ek (MIN), Filip Forsberg (NSH), William Karlsson (VGK), Adrian Kempe (LAK), Elias Lindholm (BOS), William Nylander (TOR), Gustav Nyquist (NSH), Lucas Raymond (DET), Elias Pettersson (VAN), Mika Zibanejad (NYR) Defenseman: Rasmus Andersson (CGY), Jonas Brodin (MIN), Rasmus Dahlin (BUF), Mattias Ekholm (EDM), Gustav Forsling (FLA), Erik Karlsson (PIT), Viktor Hedman (TBL) Goalies: Filip Gustavsson (MIN), Jacob Markstrom (NJD), Linus Ullmark (OTT)   Kraken and Capitals are the only teams to go unrepresented.    For Canada, Parayko over Weegar is certainly a choice, and I would’ve put Thompson over Montembeault. For Sweden, no Eklund or Zetterlund? I believe Eklund has 23 points on the season in 27 games.
