Yeah, the schedule is more favorable for Argentina later on, third place is still within grasp IMO. At the very least they aren't going to finish behind Ecuador.

Brazil won 58 medals in Swimming (34 gold medals out of 42 events)

Now that Swimming is over, in the next days I expect Colombia to get closer to Brazil in the medal count.

Remember for Colombia finish Archery, Patin and Weigthifling, they use most of their best.

Swimmer Giovanna Diamante :BRA won 10 medals here (8 gold, 2 silver), which makes her the biggest medalist ever in a single edition.

But then again, such a medal haul is literally only possible in swimming and nowhere else. :p

Yeah, and the number also includes 5 Relay medals. A great feat, nonetheless.

Every medal deserves some kind of acknowledgement, but literally half of the medals were on team/relay events, so I don't really think this is so impressive. I believe Caio Souza could earn 5 individual medals too, what would put him in an even position with Giovana.

When was the last time Brazil lost a swimming relay in south american games?

In 2018 we lost both Men's 4x100 relays but we had a youth team then. Now Brazil had mostly the best athletes available (except for Olympic medalists Fratus and Scheffer), although many people think it would be better to send younger athletes to gain experience.

    • Honestly, I think you guys have a much better chance of success here than we do. It's already difficult to maintain this sport, and with this ridiculous format this year, things have gotten even worse. Years and years participating in the elite and we haven't been able to evolve; it was just a waste.

    • Another weak result for our athletics team, which is typical; without Caio or Alisson, our chances of a medal in any high-level tournament are almost zero.   However, Juliana's result in the women's pole vault was a great 7th place. She is improving rapidly and still has a lot of room for growth.
