After the super-g portion of the men’s alpine combined (ok, technically it’s not finished yet, but the final few riders are highly unlikely to make an impact on this), there’s a very tight race for the medals. :SWE Elliot Westlund leads (54.35) by a very slight margin over current silver and bronze medalists :AUT Leon Hafner (54.40) and :GER Benno Brandis (54.47). Also still in the mix for the medals are :SWE Liam Liljenborg in 4th (54.52), followed by :FRA Nash Huot-Marchand in 5th (54.68), :SUI Robert Clarke in 6th (54.71), :ARG Nathan Quintero in 7th (54.89), :GER Leo Scherer in 8th (54.92), :SLO Miha Oserban in 9th (55.15), and :ITA Jonas Feichter in 10th.

Daleman :NED finally gets her first medal, and it’s a sensational gold in the women’s 500m (long track). I wonder if she’ll head over to the short track and try to make it a 500m double?

Finally a good day for :NED Angel Daleman :cheer:

Generic English commentator was all surprised and sounded shocked even ("the very last skater, wow!!"), despite...you know, Daleman being the youngest junior (yes, junior, not youth) world champion ever and skating with the seniors already this season, being the big favourite for today :p

    • For the summary and lowlights of Thailand's preparation in hosting the ongoing Sea Games, I kindly suggest those who are interested to read from this English language article from Thai media outlet, Thai Enquirer: https://www.thaienquirer.com/63469/thailands-sea-games-2025-under-fire-budget-management-and-technical-controversies/
    • It's all hogwash especially in the short attention span generation. Like nobody cares about Free Tibet anymore either. Free Palestine will last a lot longer due to Saudi Arabia becoming a sponsorship force in sports.   Israel is too weak in soccer to qualify from UEFA zone. The only time they qualified was from the Asian zone and they only beat Australia & New Zealand who were complete nobodies in the 1960s. No such luck in the 60 years since.
    • Oh I assure you FIFA dodger a bullet with Israel not qualifying…   But ya that’s kind of the thing, shut up and dribble is a mantra anti LGBT people have used often. I don’t think it’s hypocritical to remind them of their position
    • Ah, yes but that's not how pro athletes are taught in North America these days? Shut up & dribble is xenophobic, racist or whatever? The hypocrisy of some of these policies were exposed during 2022 World Cup already where the Saudis played it smart and waved their own "Free Palestine' slogans. Forget LGBT rights for a moment, how many 'Free Palestine' flags will be waved in 2026? Or will those be confiscated by default? Somehow I feel this won't be met with similar backlash when China clamped down on 'Free Tibet' in 2008 OG. Saudi Arabia is more important to global markets than Iran & Egypt
    • Wisła Płock just assumed 1st position after five consecutive draws. Must be first time ever a team on a five match winless streak actually moves up to league top.
    • Well ya, which is why the Egyptian and Iranian teams can shut up and dribble :P
    • The problem is, the World Cup is not a local event. Overall it's another storm in a teacup. LGBT rights in Muslim countries won't change a damn inch becuse of one soccer match in Seattle
