Bohemia 1,411 Posted September 21, 2018 #174 Share Posted September 21, 2018 (edited) FRANCE Jean-Jacques Goldman has been very popular in France for more than 30 years. He still is now even though his last album was released in the early 2000's. He wrote songs for other French singers. "Je te donne" (1985) was one of his most popular songs and it was also covered by the boyband Worlds Apart in 1996. Lyrics: (The translation is between brackets, it's very bad and approximate, sorry ) Spoiler I can give you a voice, bred with rythms and soul The heart of a welsh boy who's lost his home Put it in harmony, let the words ring Carry your thoughts in the song we sing Je te donne mes notes, je te donne mes mots Quand ta voix les emporte a ton propre tempo Une épaule fragile et solide a la fois Ce que j'imagine et ce que je crois (Translation: I give you my notes, I give you my words When your voice takes them to your own tempo Both a fragile and solid shoulder What I imagine and what I believe) Je te donne toutes mes différences Tous ces défauts qui sont autant de chance On sera jamais des standards des gens bien comme il faut Je te donne ce que j'ai ce que je vaux (Translation: I give you all my differences All those flaws that are still chances We'll never be standard, (we'll never be) straight and proper people I give what I have and what I'm worth) I can give you the force of my ancestral pride The well to go on when I'm hurt deep inside Whatever the feeling, whatever the way It helps me to go on from day to day Je te donne nos doutes et notre indicible espoir Les questions que les routes ont laissées dans l'histoire Nos filles sont brunes et l'on parle un peu fort Et l'humour et l'amour sont nos trésors (Translation: I give you our doubts and our indescribable hope Questions that roads left in history Our girls are brunette and we talk a bit loud And humor and love are our treasures) Je te donne toutes mes différences Je te donne, donne, donne ce que je suis (Translation: I give you all my differences I give, give, give you what I am) I can give you my voice, bred with rythm and soul Je te donne mes notes, je te donne ma voix (I give you my notes, I give you my voice) The songs that I love, and the stories I've told Ce que j'imagine et ce que je crois (What I imagine and what I believe) I can make you feel good even when I'm down Les raisons qui me portent et ce stupide espoir (The reasons that carry me and this stupid hope) My force is a platform that you can climb on Une épaule fragile et forte a la fois Je te donne, je te donne tout ce que je vaux, ce que je suis, mes dons Mes défauts, mes plus belles chances, mes différences (Both a fragile and strong shoulder I give, give all I'm worth, what I am, my gifts My flaws, my most beautiful chances, my differences) Edited October 17, 2018 by Bohemia I added the translation in English

Werloc 3,164 Posted September 22, 2018 #178 Share Posted September 22, 2018 (edited) TEAM LITHUANIA Over the past couple of days, 10 songs from Jurga Šeduikytė battled it out for the chance to represent Lithuania in TISC this year. It was not easy, since I grew up with this artist's music, so many of her songs have a special place for me. For many years, she was actually the only Lithuanian artist that I listened to and I always considered to enter her song in TISC and finally the moment has come. Jurga - Smėlio Žmonės (Sand People) Vėjyje / In the wind Vieniši / All alone Vėl atgal / Turning back Grįš namo kariai / Soldiers go back home Kur, už ką? / Where and why? Dėl ko? / What for? Gal tik vėliau / Perhaps only later Sužinos tie, kur ateis / Those that make it will know Augt su žole / Grow with the grass Su jūra kvėpuot / Breathe with the sea Nebijok, jei mirsi drugiu / Do not fear if you die as a butterfly Atgimsi viena / Reborn alone Dykuma / The desert Vėl dangaus / Looking at the sky Klausia vis: / Always asks: Kur pradingo vanduo? / Where did the water go? Nemiegok - / Don't fall asleep Sako jai / Sky replies Gal šiąnakt / Perhaps tonight Tave prisimins... / You'll be remembered... Augt su žole / Grow with the grass Su jūra kvėpuot / Breathe with the sea Nebijok, jei mirsi drugiu / Do not fear if you die as a butterfly Atgimsi viena / Reborn alone Smėlio žmonės kelyje / Sand people on the road Kelyje / On the road Kelyje / On the road Kelyje / On the road Kelyje... / On the road... Smėlio žmonės kelyje / Sand people on the road Kelyje / On the road Kelyje / On the road Kelyje / On the road Kelyje... / On the road... Augt su žole / Grow with the grass Su jūra kvėpuot / Breathe with the sea Nebijok, jei mirsi drugiu / Do not fear if you die as a butterfly Atgimsi viena / Reborn alone Edited September 22, 2018 by Werloc
Werloc 3,164 Posted September 22, 2018 #179 Share Posted September 22, 2018 There's also an English version of this song, but for some reason, I find the Lithuanian version a bit more beautiful in both rhythmical aspects and lyrics. As always, I put in effort so that the translation would be melodical and @Wanderer could sing along.
