The bad news is Marko Daňo was called by Winnipeg to help the Jets in the Stanley Cup play-offs after his Manitoba finished the season in AHL out of the Play-Offs.

and Winnipeg is out  Still I can not understand why they wanted so much to call him back, since he was not in the line up for last night match at all. but that´s cool, another free forward for us

and Nashville's also with their shoulders to the wall...if they go out, a lot of interesting options for many teams (especially SWE and SUI...Forsberg, Arvidsson, Ekholm and Josi, just to name the top 4, but they're not the only stars of that team, we all know) will be on the table for the world champs...

however, this year's NHL playoffs are really the craziest I've seen in quite a few years (p.s. I'm reading too many comparisons between Columbus and the 2012 LA Kings...be serious, people!:finger:)...

  • 1 month later...

and finally, after 3 rounds full of surprising results, we know the names of the 2 teams playing for the Stanley Cup: it's gonna be a battle between the Boston Bruins and the St.Louis Blues...:cheer:

Boston basically only had 1 very competitive match-up (round #1 vs Toronto) and then destroyed their following opponents (Columbus and Carolina), improving game after game...

St.Louis, instead, after a relatively easy 1st round vs Winnipeg, had to fight hard for 7 games against Dallas and finally they had to turn around all the odds against San Josè, which they did in 6 games, helped also (mainly? :mumble:) by the injuries to 3 of the SJ star players, who heavily affected the outcome of the entire series (even if in games #5 and #6 SJ looked also mentally already out of contention )...

both teams are built more or less with the same philosophy (great believe in their goaltending, quite defensive style of play, solid group strategy rather than superstars-filled lineup -even if Boston have 2/3 guys like Marchand, Bergeron and Pastrnak, who can't be considered "average players within the group")...so, I don't know what to expect from these Finals...for sure, there's a high risk to watch not exactly the most exciting hockey we could have...

fun fact, St.Louis on January 3rd were dead last in the NHL standings, the worst team of the entire league...then, they discovered a phenomenal Jordan Binnington and who knows how? they've been able to turn things completely around...

now, they're ready to play the Stanley Cup Finals for the 4th time in their history (they already played 3 consecutive Stanley Cup Finals from 1968 through 1970, but they lost all of them, the first 2 against Montreal and the last one against the same Boston Bruins they're going to face this year)...

the Finals (best-of-7 series, of course) are scheduled to start next Monday, May 27th in Boston (all games set to drop the puck @ about 8.20 p.m. ET in North America, 2.20 a.m. of the following day CET)

    • Apparently this season will be last one in Kamil Stoch career if his results wont be enough good for his standards.
    • Such a nice one for Colturi ! That was fun. It almost looked like a script with the cameras focusing on Colturi a couple of times before her first run and showcasing the potential of youngster and she didn't disappoint.      I hope Colturi skis for Albania forever. So much fun to cheer her with the Albanian flag.    I don't get it why everyone is being so critical of Colturi, you got no right to criticize a personal decision, as most European nations use imported athletes in many sports like wrestling and cheer them on like their.   Would you spend hours criticizing Frank Chamizo for switching to Italy rather than playing for Cuba?

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
