I completely agree with my Friend INTERISTA (and evidently fan of the Olympic boxe): hopefully both Olympic boxe and Inter will come back ... "a riveder le stelle" (Dante, what a genious ...!)

As I wrote, the IOC must supervise the competition, removing the sport is not the only alternative to a corrupt competition...cancelling it in November (instead of making everything possible in order to have a regular competition) means that a good number of people have unnecessarily wasted two and a half years of their lives.

Which still sounds better to me than wasting 3 or 4 years (depending if you get robbed at qualifiers or Olympics proper). :)

Yeah, choosing some mobster crime lord as president or something, but like that'll ever happen, haha!

I'm assuming they will remove them pretty quickly if the IOC keep threatening.

I voted YES but only because this is a traditional sport and not because of AIBA. I'm agree with all of you who say that AIBA must change...and there are a lot of changes to do... (personally I don't think this federation will be changed soon, same for scoring rules, unfortunatly).

Uzbek, Gafur Rakhimov, is set to be confirmed as the only candidate to stand for president of AIBA after his sole rival, Kazakhstan's Serik Konakbayev, allegedly failed to get enough letters of support.

The "problem" with this is that IOC have consistently warned members of AIBA to elect Rakhimov, because the US Treasury has described Rakhimov as "one of Uzbekistan’s leading criminals".

IOC Executive Committee will begin a two-day meeting tomorrow where this whole mess will probably be discussed, and possible the future of boxing at the Olympics.

Goodbye boxing, see you in 2028.

If AIBA promise to create somekind of mixed team event, IOC will probably look pass all the dodgy stuff. :p

hopefully...

but I don't trust them until I see a official statement (and even after that, I'd always fear they make up their minds, sooner or later)...:facepalm:

by the way, some sad news from the world of non-Olympic boxing...

former Pro World Champion Graciano Rocchigiani died yesterday in Sicily after being hit by a car...

R.I.P.

Update:

AIBA's election committee confirms Rakhimov as the only candidate for president of AIBA.
