Doping Cases and Bans Thread (2016 & 2017)

Recommended Posts

There is nothing more i would love then to have the entire russian delegation expelled.  Not because im scared of russian athletes.  Americans pretty much spanked them even with doping but i simply hate the country so much.  And i was born in Kiev btw....   why? Thats not something im going to get into.  At the end of the day probably the only sport that is untouched by doping is team sport. So my guess is that they will let them at least compete in the team sport they qualified to. However if they do they need to compete under intenational flag.   We cant take the risk of russia appearing in the medal table! And the russian flag cannot appear in the opening ceremony!!!   It will be the loudest boos in the history of sport

I doubt brazilians care too much about Russia or this whole issue to be honest.

Peru Please !!!!!.........................we peruvians are proud of our potato ...................................................The first permanent potato patches in North America were established in 1719, most likely near Londonderry (Derry), NH, by Scotch-Irish immigrants.  From there, the crop spread across the country.

By the way before people from US  says they invented the chips ( lays or whatever they call them  ....interesting name ) ............................................. The earliest known recipe for potato chips is in William Kitchiner's 1822 cookbook The Cook's Oracle, a bestseller in England and the United States; its recipe for "Potatoes fried in Slices or Shavings" reads "peel large potatoes, slice them about a quarter of an inch thick, or cut them in shavings round and round, as you would peel a lemon; dry them well in a clean cloth, and fry them in lard or dripping".   .................we colonial brishers call them crisps ................

It's not like many other countries would care either...  unless there are 20k americans/britons/canadians in the stadium (which could be, I don't know how the ticket sales are going) I doubt we would hear any boos, except for the president of Brazil and my country's delegation.

Well, my sister is devastated. She cares nothing about sports except for Olympic synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics and she doesn't see the point if there are no Russians there lol.

    • more countries added to the list of US ban    you can't travel to USA if you are from : burkina faso , niger , Laos , South sudan , mali , sierra leon ...
    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases
    • From 2020 to 2025    These three countries alone make up almost two-thirds (61.9%) of all current doping violations in athletics worldwide. It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places. Here’s a look at the top countries: Rank Country Total Violations Percentage Region 1 Kenya 119 24.74% Africa 2 India 108 22.45% Asia 3 Russia 73 15.18% Europe 4 China 26 5.40% Asia 5 Turkey 20 4.16% Europe 6 Italy 18 3.74% Europe 7 South Africa 18 3.74% Africa 8 Ukraine 17 3.53% Europe 9 United States 16 3.33% North America 10 Morocco 15 3.12% Africa
