Surfing lends itself much better to being edited down. It creates spectacular pictures but there is a ton of downtime due to the nature of the sport.

 

That being said it has much better live TV coverage than the Olympic sailing classes at the professional level, so clearly somebody is watching.

Kelsey Mitchell broke the PR in the sprint. She took up the sport less then two years ago. Same with Lauriane Genest, who broke the Canadian Record in her first international competition at the Commonwealth Games last year. So much undiscovered talent...

 It's like half pipe if the half-pipe moved, was unstable and changed drastically from venue to venue.

 

What kind of surfing you see on any given day depends a lot on the conditions.

What a finish in women's sprints!  What a comeback by Rodriguez!  But Walsh took her foot off the gas at the end.  Still don't know who won.

 

Edit: Walsh won.  Still haven't seen a good replay, though.
