So, the Day "D" and Game "G" is here...the only and most important match of the whole year for our Junior´s National team is here. The whole year the whole preparation has been aimed (just like in many past years) just for this match. a do-or-die must win game. I don´t want to even imagine what could happen if we´ll fail tonight.

Let´s go boys ! Do what you have to secure us the top division also for the next year (if we succeed we´ll be for the 25th year in a row among the world juniors elite, and still with the status of a never relegated country since the first introduction into the top U20 division)

Slovensko do toho ! :cheer::fingers:

Preliminary Round Last Day Schedule (GMT -8)

Group A
Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8)

Denmark DEN.gif vs CZE.gif Czech Republic
Period-by-Period:
December 31st 2018, h. 13:00, Rogers Arena, Vancouver
(22:00 CET)

*Direct match for the Quarterfinals,

CZE - with everything on it´s own hands, any result except the lose in regulation time will qualify them for the QF, Any win (Regulation Time or after OT/PSO) will put the Czech team in 3rd place of the group ahead of Switzerland, a lose after OT/PSO will mean a final 4th Group place behind the Swiss.

DEN - Need a win in the 60 minutes of Regulation Time to finish 4th of the group, qualify for the quarterfinals and avoid the Relegation round. Any other result will qualify the Czechs and send Denmark to the Relegation Round.

Russia RUS.gif vs CAN.gif Canada
Period-by-Period:
December 31st 2018, h. 17:00, Rogers Arena, Vancouver
(02:00 CET)

*Direct match for the 1st place in the group,
the winner of the match (doesn´t matter if in Regulation Time or after OT/PSO) will top the group and face Slovakia in the Quarterfinal, the losing team will finish 2nd of the Group.

Group B
Pacific Standard Time (GMT -8)

Sweden SWE.gif vs KAZ.gif Kazakhstan
Period-by-Period:
December 31st 2018, h. 15:30, Save-On-Foods Memorial Center, Victoria
(00:30 CET)

*Sweden playing for the Group´s 1st place, Kazahstan already assured to play the Relegation Round against the last team of Group A.
SWE - A win in this match (doesn´t matter if in regulation time or after OT/PSO) will secure the 1st place of the group and on paper the easiest opponent in the quarterfinals, 1st place is possible even with a lose after OT/PSO but Finland must defeat the USA in regulation time, or the game Finland vs USA must go to overtime,
in some circumstances also a Kazakhstans win in regulation time will be enough for Sweden to top the group, but only if Finland defeat USA after Overtime/Penalty Shoot-Out

United States USA.gif vs FIN.gif Finland
Period-by-Period:
December 31st 2018, h. 19:30, Save-On-Foods Memorial Center, Victoria
(04:30 CET)

*Both teams can still finish 1st, 2nd or 3rd of the Group,
USA - any win over Finland will assure them to finish higher than their opponent and at worst the 2nd place of the group.
A 3 points win will signify 1st place if Sweden lose to Kazakhstan in RT or after OT/PSO otherwise USA will finish seconds of the group.
A 2 points win will signify 1st place if Sweden lose to KAZ in Regulation Time otherwise USA will finish seconds of the group,
FIN - Any win over the USA will assure them to finish higher than their opponent and at worst the 2nd place of the group.
A 3 points win will signify 1st place only if Sweden lose to Kazakhstan in Regulation Time otherwise Finland will finish seconds of the group.
A 2 points win will signify only the 2nd place place of the group ahead of 3rd USA, no matter of the match SWE-KAZ final outcome was,

    • I will try for Croatia:    Archery (1) : we never had a representative, but were two times very close. I think we have a chance in Recurve for a single male quota, and in mixed compound,  Realistic one quota    Athletics (8) : difficult as many things will change in the next 2-3 seasons, but let's. say 8, I think that could be a realistic number   Badminton (1) : hopefully our Indonesian import will manage to qualify     Basketball (0): small chances in both male and 3x3 male teams , but somehow I doubt it    Boxing (2): two male quotas    Canoe slalom (1). maybe with a small chance for two places, but one is realistic    Canoe sprint (1): similar to slalom, maybe two, but one is realistic, but lets see how the new qualification system plays out    Cycling (2): would bee very happy with a quota in BMX freestyle and male road race    Diving (1): hoping that Matej Nevescanin will qualify    Fencing (0): very small chance in mens foil, but I guess will not happen.    football (0): there is always talks about our male team, but never succeeded, I am afraid will be the same for LA 2028    Artistic gymnastics (4): Kovtun plus two additional male quotes plus one female   Handball (14): the mens team should qualify    Judo (5): four female quota plus one male    Rowing (5). difficult to say as boats/crews are not defined yet. But I expect 4 mens places plus 1 female. Maybe more, but let see    Sailing (6): somehow not a good development in this sports, could be even less than 6 quotas.    Shooting (5): hopefully two trap and two male rifle quotas plus one surprise    Swimming (6): will be brave here and say 5 male plus one female. I think we have a realistic chance to qualify a freestyle relay.    Table tennis (5): hope for 3 male and two female quotas incl. mixed doubles (Arapovic/Ban)   Tennis (6): still too early, and always the question who is really interested in playing.   Taekwondo (3): I am seeing two females plus one male qualifying   Waterpolo (11): mens team should be safe, small chance for our women's team.   Wrestling (1) considering the Russian expansion, one quota would be great     in all other sports hopeless case for Croatia. But 88 would be a great delegation, probably too optimistic
