Nanna Skodborg Merrald is finally back (scoring 73 point something today).

The Danish dream would be for Merrald to become another Dufour... Would pretty much guarantee them team silver in Tokyo. At least.

Not beyond the realms of possibility. Very talented, if not hyped, rider.

There is something you don't see every day. British wife sabotaged her Danish husband's Olympic campaign.

British and Danish teams are currently in a dead-lock for team medals. Wink. Wink.

Am I missing something here or how is this not a massive knife in the back of her own husband? She basically puts her country above her own marriage?

It is certainly curious. Dahl already campaigned the horse at the 2019 Europeans and they were on a strong upwards trajectory, score-wise. At the very least, they could have been strong travelling reserves for the Olympics - something Denmark needs given their traditional lack of depth.

Dahl saying his wife made the decision is curious as well. Sounds like D-I-V-O-R-C-E may be coming.

It's weird even if she just wanted the horse for herself.

By the way, just realizing this now, but how can someone with a minority share change the ownership ratios apparently without any sort of approval from the one with a majority share?

I assume because FEI-listed ownerships are often virtually tweaked for the Olympics. Real ownership is tracked somewhere else.

There are riders who ride for foreign owners/businesses. In order to make them eligible for the Olympics, the owners virtually give them some percent of ownership. But that's just on paper.

    • Fingers crossed the women’s curling gold medal match also undergoes changes, very preferably an hour earlier so it doesn’t conflict with the men’s hockey gold medal match    Seriously, what were they thinking
    • And yet another version is out . This time with some more noticeable changes.   Ice Hockey: Women's semifinals moved from the Rho Arena to the Santa Giulia Arena Women's gold medal game moved up to a 19:10 start time (was previous 20:10)   Speed Skating: Most of the events have had their session cut by somewhere between 5 and 30 minutes. Women were previously listed first.   Alpine Skiing: Downhill portion of the team combined cut by 45 minutes 1st Run of the Giant Slalom and Slalom events cut by 30 minutes   Ski Mountaineering: Sprint heats extended by 8 minutes. • Qualification for the 2026 World Baseball Classic has been announced. There'll be 2 qualification Pools and 4 teams in each with the top 2 teams in each pool advancing to the 2026 WBC.   As a fan of international baseball, words cannot describe how disappointed I am. We are coming off arguably the greatest international baseball tournament in history in 2023 and we are cutting the number of teams in the qualification round from 12 to 8 teams . How do you expect to grow baseball like that? Teams like  Argentina and  Pakistan have been on the rise but now they won't have the chance to qualify.     Taipei Qualification Pool (Feb. 21-25, 2025)  Nicaragua  South Africa  Spain  Taiwan     Tucson Qualification Pool (Mar. 2-6, 2025)  Brazil  China  Colombia  Germany

    • Well... I'm late, as always, but unfortunately I couldn't follow live and I've just finished catching up with the thread.    Congratulations to our winner @Hipooo and to @Belle and @Erigert on their medals.    Well done to our host @Cinnamon Bun, who put up a huge effort managing the contest.   Thank you to everyone who voted for our song and helped us achieve this 5th place. I saw we were very close to a podium finish, but this is still a great result.   Congratulations to @Makedonas on the very successful song choice.   I'll now share my ballot.     1st   12 pts   Romania  2nd   11 pts   Bulgaria  3rd   10 pts   Sweden  4th   9 pts   Mexico  5th   8 pts   Brazil  6th   7 pts   Indonesia  7th   6 pts   China  8th   5 pts   France  9th   4 pts   Denmark  10th   3 pts   Spain  11th   2 pts   Italy  12th   1 pts   Albania    Res1   Ireland  Res2   India  Res3   Hungary   I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the next contest!
