That's actually good news for the Greek tennis fans since she was in Sakkari's section IIRC. Yeah, I noticed she retired in some of her last tournaments and also had Covid recently so I'm not too surprised. Sakkari has a good draw to make the QF, and now it's even better. Unfortunately Maria did not play well today in her first round match, so she will need to improve in order to capitalise on this draw. One step at a time though... Monzanator 3,598 Posted January 17, 2022 #162 Share Posted January 17, 2022 Australia has approved the Sputnik vaccine - four weeks after refusing a visa to Natalia Vikhlyantseva who was vaccinated with it and obviously had to miss AO. Australian politics is a complete joke and the hits keep on coming. https://7news.com.au/lifestyle/health-wellbeing/russian-vaccine-recognised-by-australia-c-5338790 https://www.theage.com.au/sport/tennis/russian-tennis-player-to-skip-australian-open-over-sputnik-vaccine-20211221-p59j7j.html thepharoah

Monzanator 3,598 Posted January 18, 2022 #166 Share Posted January 18, 2022 Elena Rybakina saved MP vs Zarina Diyas but won in three sets. Petra Kvitova looks to be done as a serious threat after winning only four games vs Sorana Cirstea. This could be her last year on tour.

hckošice 13,267 Posted January 18, 2022 #169 Share Posted January 18, 2022 Not so usual thing but 3 of the 5 Slovaks won their 1st round. Do not remember the last time this happened in a GS. Even more fun is that all 3 wins came in one day (today) after yesterday 2 early defeats. so quite worth to write a sentence or two about this here.. Alex Molčan, Norbert Gombos and Kristína Kučová in 2nd round in other hand both Košice born chicks, Kaja Schmiedlová and Viki Kužmová already out after the 1st round Makedonas
