  1. I though it was a pretty monotonous ceremony, but given the circumstances they did a good job. The one thing I can claim about Rio 2016 is that we had an amazing Paralympics opening (the best ever in my view).
  2. Brazil Our motto is "a podium everyday", let's see if we can achieve that
  3. This thread is finally completed. Better late than never I guess, but I wish the para sports federations could be faster with their updates - I even emailed some of them like World Boccia, which didn't reply and just announced a provisional entry list hours ago. Anyway, the NPCs with the most athletes are: 259 255 246 242 238 220 180 143 138 136
  4. Less than 5 days to go and I'm still waiting for the full daily schedule page
  5. That's simply not true. NBC even paid to have Swimming in the time slot they wanted.
  6. I love they're trying to figure out how to split the trophy
  7. Probably the same with Skateboarding/Surfing, where even the athletes are against a "code of points". We just have to trust the judges
  8. flagbearers have been announced: Petrúcio Ferreira (Athletics) e Evelyn Oliveira (Boccia).
  9. That helped But probably also because it was the first big competition where she played a big role in our success - she was the mvp of the pivotal QF match vs . But yeah, I would have mentioned at least 10 people before her.
  10. Globo Esporte (a big sports page in Brazil) has asked a few questions over the last week: What medal from Brazil was the most exciting? 1. Hebert Conceição (gold, Boxing) - 21,96% 2. Isaquias Queiroz (gold, Canoeing) - 16,79% 3. Laura Pigossi e Luisa Stefani (bronze, Tennis) - 12,07% I said it at the moment that the bronze medal of Pigossi/Stefani was the best moment of Tokyo for me, but the k.o. by Hebert was pretty damn exciting/surprising also. What was the biggest brazilian name at the Games? 1. Rosamaria (silver, Volleyball) - 65,08% 2. Rebeca Andrade (gold/silver, Gymnastics) - 15,09% 3. Rayssa Leal (silver, Skateboarding) - 8,22% Rosamaria's (big) fan club probably had a huge influence in this poll What was the most memorable moment of the Games? 1. Hebert Conceição knockout in Gold medal bout (Boxing) - 23.03% 2. Shared gold between Gianmarco Tamberi and Mutaz Essa Barshim (Athletics) - 18.59% 3. Youngest podium at the Olympics, women's street (Skateboarding) - 11.24% Of course a moment from a brazilian athlete would be picked, but also nice to see the high jump moment.
  11. Before the Men's World Cup in Russia, there was a women's Intercontinental Cup at the same venue (probably there's not enough teams to have a WC of their own). Even after losing the third match, Brazil was the champion. Standings: 1 2 3 4
  12. Prizes for brazilian medallists have been announced: Gold: R$ 160.000 (~US$ 30.000) Silver: R$ 64.000 (~US$ 12.000) Bronze: R$ 32.000 (~US$ 6.000) Athletes in teams, pairs and relays will receive half of that amount. This might not seem much, but this money could have a real impact in the life of most brazilian Paralympic athletes.
  13. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this Championship will now be held in Paris, France, on 4th December 2021 (via WDSF).
  14. Although most people are *dreading* the inclusion of this sport at the Olympics, it's kinda a new thing that no one knows exactly how it will work out. So I'm curious too
  15. Alison dos Santos won a bronze at this championship in 2018, so I'll be watching (not that I expect any medals this time).
  16. Bruce Almighty, Bullet from Space, Flying Machine (boys), Logistix and Esthalavista (girls) are certainly some of the highlights for me Also, I know we won't see a lot of older people in this sport, but let's say you're 40, are you still considered a b-boy?
  17. Yes, while the men's world cup expanded to 32 teams in the most recent edition, the women's decreased to 12. I get it, women's Basketball isn't so exciting as men's (look at the number of posts here during Olympics), but even FIBA doesn't seem to care anymore.
  18. New Volleyball Nations League format was announced, with 16 teams competing in pools of 8 (round robin phase) and 8 teams in the knockout phase.
  19. Kim Yeon Koung and Kimberly Hill also retiring from NT. It's sad that Kim never got a medal at the world level with the Korean team, despite being one of the best players in the world.
  20. Are they gonna allow the athletes to use their "stage" names? Looking at the 2018 Youth Olympics, we had Bumblebee, X-Rain, Bad Matty and Senorita Carlota, among others. Also, are they gonna call them "b-boys" and "b-girls"?
  21. Looking back at this. Kinda happened in Tokyo too
  22. The final 5 for both championships have been revealed (Tahiti event was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns, so only the finals in California remains).
