But still, wouldn't that mean that some of these excellent tams will be pretty much out?

In German Team, they decided years ago, that the best athlete/double in single competition will compete in the team. They stayed with this decision during every single competition, they have to do so now, too.

In case you missed the training, it had different wind conditions as well. So it's nothing to take too important. Not to mention that it was just a training, they were still testing. The course today was basically a Super-G and Hirscher is good in Super-G. Anyway, with this short Downhill, no Speed pilot would have a Chance for a medal anyway.
