Men's Football UEFA European Champions League 2024 - 2025
hckošice replied to Henry_Leon's topic in Football
Slovan Bratislava just made it to the Champions League. Becoming only the 4th club in history to progress to the main round after nowadays non-existant 1.FC Košice in 1997/98 (lost all 6 group games), nowadays 2nd division Artmedia Petržalka (Bratislava largest suburb) in 2005/06 (the only team to win a group match in Porto and reached also 3 draws in that group against FC Porto at home and in both games against Glasgow Rangers) and MŠK Žilina in 2010/11 (lost all 6 group matches) -
Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slafkovský became the Slovak hockey player of 2024 last night. It is already the 2nd time he won this title after 2022. He won the annual award during last night special gala at the Bratislava Castle. In addition to the main award, he also won two more categories - for the best Frorward and the best under 20 years Slovak player of the Year. Martin Pospíšil the Calgary Flames forward ended 2nd and Libor Hudáček from Czech Třinec 3rd. In other categories Washington Capitals blue-liner Martin Fehérváry won the Best Defencemen Award and Samuel Hlavaj from AHL´s Iowa Wild was picked as Slovak goalie of the Year. The Czech coach of HK Nitra Antonín Stavjaňa won the Coach of the Year award and Peter Stano the Referee of the Year. Interesting enough, was the result of the Female Player of the Year where Lucia Halušková from Hungarian HK Budapest won the trophy beating also the super star Nela Lopušanová. In the hockey hall of Fame category. This time it was 2000 world champion and former excellent NHL defencer Ľubomír Višňovský to be inducted.

Summer Olympic Games 2024 Replay Videos
hckošice replied to hckošice's topic in Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
all videos are still not available in the IOC channel. Sorry, but I don´t intend to repeat this job of (looking for new removed deleted/inexistant videos and searching for new links to replace them daily) a hundred times like I did for Tokyo until they finalized the videodatabase. Once When they will be available, I will put them here. For now, I suggest to look for the official broadcaster/right-holders, But again, if anyone is so impatient, please feel free, go ahead and post this incomplete database here him/herself, otherwise I am afraid users will have to wait. -
Extremely divided opinion. Public: Some take it as a fact and justify it under the point that a lot is at stake (not qualifying for the Olympics in hockey = unimaginable national tragedy) so we need the best available regardless where they are gaining their bread, Some (Pro-Kremlin/Pro-Current governement) are super excited, Some (Anti-Kremlin/Anti-our current governement and traditional hockey fans) are sad - some of them have even black screen avatars... but at the end will still watch and cheer, because missing the Olympics with such generation we currently have would be a huge waste and would not be fair... Some (Anti-Kremlin/Anti-our current Governement and casual hockey/sport fans) are shocked and disapprove to the point of considering = calling in medias to boycot the team and the tournament. Players: Several players expressed that they do not want to play in the national team as long as there are players from the KHL (there are names we are missing in this roster without more special informations added why, like Cehlárik, Slafkovský, Černák...), Some were some were begged on knees by the coach staff for this tournament (Like Martin Pospíšil, Feherváry or Lantoši... especially Pospíšil last days called he will not play if the KHLers will really be invited... only last night came statement of hime and his brother who is also in the team that they will both came and play for the country... as there is a lot at stake "We did not change our oppinion, but we want to help Slovakia to be at the Olympics... and play there" https://sport.aktuality.sk/hokej/clanok/martin-pospisil-sa-rozhodol-bude-reprezentovat-slovensko-2024081819450673443. All in all, It is bad. I am seriously worried and afraid, ...no..., I am convinced that now two "camps" will be formed within the team, the pro and anti and seriously, I can´t even imagine how it can work in a TEAM. I am really afraid. Normally, such roster even without Slaf, Černák, Cehlárik and others missing would very likely win this group, but, who knows what will happen now...

This one is mainly on IOC and their policy of having everything huge, in exceptional and glittering venues. Such crap. Canoe Slalom by nature is a sport you need literally some 200 meters of wild water you can find in every river in this planet. The olympic race in Atlanta (Lake Ocoee was still on river and it was/still is considered as the best canoe slalom olympic races ever held. Sydney in 2000 however stunned the world with a super modern artificial Penrith wild water venue and since then it went all wrong, IOC asked hosts to build similar expensive artificial venues beginning in Athens 2004. If IOC stayed smart and so-green-ecologically thinking institution like they love to be presented, then they would have kept this sport where it belong on rivers, where you do not need anything expensive just a couple of gates and ropes for tying
