  1. DAY 12 HIGHLIGHTS Group A Central European Summer Time (GMT +2) Finland 2 - 4 Germany Period-by-Period: 1-1, 1-1, 0-2 May 21st 2019, h. 12:15, Steel Arena, Košice Goals: 16. 2. It´s not published yet, but the different national federations received the informations already last year. The top 8 from the IIHF World Ranking 2019 (the one after the World Championships) are qualified directly. The 9th, 10th and 11th nation will host the 3 final qualifying round tournaments. 3 round-robin tournaments of 4 teams (basically the same system as for PyeongChang 2018) There will be 3 different rounds, the 1st round played already this September, the final qualifiers are (still not definitive) schedulled for next september in order to have NHLers eligible. Only the winners of the 3 final tournaments will qualify. + There still the issue with China. Fasel promised them the direct quota, but many top nations presented their disagreement. obviously Slovakia will be the punished one, since we are the 9th team and will miss the direct spot because IIHF for some for me incomprehensible reasons want to have them at the Olympics. Anyway, there some rumors the Chinese quota should be reconsidered right now during the IIHF congress in Bratislava from tomorrow, since they didn´t proved any improvements during the last years which was the main condition from IIHF for their direct quota... so still a small very small light of hope for us somewhere ... ofc for now we have to host the final OQT in our group we will have the 14th, 15th teams of the world ranking...and + 1 qualified from the second round...
  3. FINAL RANKING 9th-16th PLACES The following Nation have been relegated to the Men's Ice Hockey IIHF Division I Group A World Championship 2020 Austria (will be Replaced by Belarus) France (will be Replaced by Kazakhstan)

  6. The losers of the day are certainly and whom instead of a rest day will have to travel a quite long trip by train ! (yes by train) from Bratislava to Košice and vice versa tomorrow the same ofc for and
  7. but must admit that seeing this Russia team playing in 2nd period was like if we are in some time travelling back to some late last century decades and watching some guys with the old CCCP letters written on their jerseys. Jeez total hockey perfection
  8. 9. Did the Swedes visited their fans partybus in Bratislava between the 1st and 2nd period lol ? WTF
  10. Watching NHL players from the Canada vs USA match played on the Košice "extreme large sized" ice is so funny you clearly see how they are still absolutely not used to it
  11. Qualified in Men´s Ice Hockey qualified as host country for Men´s Ice Hockey and will host next year the 3 Final Olympic Qualifiers Tournaments
  12. Results after 1st Period: Group A Canada - United States 2-0 (2-0,-,-) 01:49 Pierre-Luc Dubois (Stone) 1-0 08:02 Kyle Turris (Mantha) 2-0 Group B Sweden - Russia 1-0 (1-0,-,-) 07:32 Gabriel Landeskog (M. Pettersson, E. Pettersson) 1-0
  13. Dylan Larkin got the puck right in to the ...well...crotch...man ! and what a shot this was ! I can not even imagine how much it must hurt lol poor guy was literally laying for 5 minutes under the team bench
  14. better video. I literally have tears right now
  15. and some pics from todays great farewell of our Ladislav Nagy, the last active 2002 world champion has today officially finished his career at 40. He signed today his 122nd cap for our National Team. And what a moment it was for him in his home arena in his birth city and scoring the winning goal in this (his very last careers) match. Thank you Laci Nagy ! Thank you Košice and Slovak legend !
  16. btw one absolutely freezing moment from todays match. it was minute 38. The whole stadium started chanting the name of Pavol Demitra RIP (our so much missed legendary #38 who passed away in the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl air plane crash in 2011 just a couple of weeks after we hosted the WCH for the first time in 2011) and right after this we scored a goal !!!
  17. 18. You realize our goal here was the quarterfinal, everything else was considered a failure. and after Germany lost to USA yesterday we were eliminated and the players and the whole country completely mentally down. so this match was for nothing any of the teams couldn´t move anywhere up or down in the final ranking. it was just a classic farewell match for our star Nagy (this was the only motivation to win this game tonight). and we lost only to and I didn´t know they are weak
  19. Laco Nagy what a moment for him, our last active world champion, Košice born playing his last careers match at home and scoring the winning penalty shoot-Out. Wow. Congrats and Thank you for everything Laci !
  20. Results after 2nd Period: Group A Slovakia - Denmark 1-0 (0-0, 1-0,-) 39:04 Martin Marinčin (Studenič, Nagy) 1-0 Group B Norway - Latvia 1-1 (1-0, 0-1,-) 15:18 Tobias Lindstrom (Holos, Martinsen) 1-0 22:43 Miks Indrašis (Rud. Balcers, Blugers) 1-1
  21. yeah they were, but has very strong team this year. with this roster around Voráček and with the fantastic almost home crowd support in Bratislava they are big medal contender this year. They are playing very impressive and good hockey at this tournament.
  22. I guess not so many users predicted win today, but in other hand I am pretty sure almost everyone predicted win
