Finswimming will be added to the core sports program of the Mediterranean Games. Rowing will be re-included as well. It’s also likely there will be more mixed events in 2026. The CIJM wants bring the events program in line with the Olympics (not sure if this will lead to combined events in weightlifting for instance). Road cycling will be down a few NOCs from the last edition assuming there isn’t much crossover from track cycling in regards to unqualified NOCs. I believe 18 NOCs should be line a for a quota at the moment, compared to the 23 NOCs that took part four years ago. It will be interesting if we continue to participate across sports drop due to quota cuts and tighter qualification systems this time around.

Hopkins rode well at the Commonwealth Games last summer. He could be a dark horse for the Olympic quota if things go his way in the road race.

The national threads are mostly dead in favor of individual clubs. We could discuss starting a club for US users @NearPup @owenp_23 @dezbee2008 (and the others that don’t immediately come to mind). Maybe some sort of “USA and Friends Club,” so we can support Team USA and the overseas autonomous NOCs

Okay, I’ve got a question about how this works quota wise then? Hypothetically, if Deplano is the only Italian swimmer to swim a OQT in the men’s 50m freestyle during the qualification period, but he fails to do so at any of the championships counted by the federation, would they still turn down a quota in the event? Basically, I’m asking if quota places should still be provisionally awarded to Italy here, or if there’s a possibility they will be declined.

I’d imagine any decision would likely need to be okayed by the EOC and local organizers as well (if the FIE would like to remain a part of the European Games).
