  1. Relationships that are actually strained by politics - even more so if in general they're not as different as, say, Trump vs Biden/Saunders/whatever - can be seen as relationships of a doubtful strength, come on. I'm not at all a fan of my sister voting for one of the main Christian parties, but obviously that won't affect our relationship, that'd be silly.
  2. Thank the good Lord it's generally not, maybe except some children's shows (but Spongebob Squarepants for example is called by it's actual name, so that's good). Dutch TV has dumb and stupid things, but I'm so glad they don't commonly do this (I can only imagine 'The Walking Dead' or 'Black Sails' or 'The Last Kingdom' changing to Dutch versions ) Changing the names of movies and series is second on my list of dumb TV things related to languages, closely behind every single country that has their own language as audio instead of the original audio (specifically for non-children stuff).
  3. And about the Democratic Party having no other options than senile granddads and people who just aren't really good enough (yet?).
  4. This is hilarious Apparently in some Indonesian town people are going on the streets dressed as 'ghosts' (including some good old whiteface, let the racism yellers begin ) to get people to stay inside. I can't imagine it's not a joke but still
  5. Yeah when I look at those things like 'Posted x minutes ago' now, it looks like my eyes are failing
  6. The only way for that to be even somewhat realistic to happen is if two countries send in a truly horrific song and get 0 points, otherwise I think we can have 10.000 TISC's and it's still incredibly unlikely.
  7. Has there been an update to forum software? Some things look ever so slightly different
  8. *Kensington has left the chat
  9. Mathieu van der Poel got injured? Schurter is a challenge for him, sometimes, but he wipes the floor with Flückiger and especially Avancini
  10. It's 2020, year of the presidential elections, and you've got two more or less senile candidates battling each other. What a party this is gonna be.
  11. Because all 40 or so of them were admitted mostly before the scaling up of IC beds in the Netherlands really got underway (if you've got roughly 1200 IC beds that doesn't mean you can take on 1200 COVID-19 patients in need of IC, since there's are of course also beds needed for regular stuff like accidents). Apart from that, it was also done to keep a bit of pressure off of the healthcare workers - since there was plenty of space in Germany, so this was not a problem for them. And it was simply better to bring them to Germany than move them all the way to the north of the Netherlands, which would be a longer trip for these people (most of whom are patients from the border region), since in the south the hospitals - especially at that time - were in fact as good as full.
  12. Mississippi was targeted big time by tornadoes yesterday, damn. At least 8 deaths and there's still places with basically no contact (like tiny Bassfield where what looked like an EF5 tornado, the strongest category, passed right over it, and so far only a few photos of total destruction appeared).
  13. They are not, no. As of now there are roughly 1400 people in intensive care, which is around 250 more than the number of available beds before all this. Since people saw a rise coming of course, they tried to stretch the capability to at least 2400, which I think more or less worked out, and the expected peak of 2000+ didn't happen (yet?), so although it is of course hard work, ICU's are still being able to keep up and numbers have been slowly going down for a couple days.
  14. Glory hole is not a flirt hole (whatever that is) buddy.
  15. One would assume that's allowed once the event is over We waited until after the closing ceremony and all
  16. https://www.britannica.com/place/Central-America Central America, the southernmost region of North America. Not a continent.
  17. Not really Central America is generally not considered a separate continent, and it's definitely not part of South America Saying Slovakia is in Eastern Europe is more like saying Suriname is in Central America
  18. "What happened in the 90's?" YouTube was founded Viagra was brought on the market Gorbachev introduced 'perestroika'
  19. Which of the following sports has an official underwater version? Skiing Hockey Volleybal Long jump (long jump is no sport, but an event, and same can be said sort of about the generic 'skiing', but fine ) I knew that one
  20. Most people went for South America, but it's North, since Central is counted as North (they didn't mention that earlier of course ) Ace is correct, glory hole is a little different.... (I'd suggest not googling it when at work) Dances are right
  21. Ah, commercials Make the dances fit with the countries: Dances: Foxtrot, lambada, tango Countries: Argentina, USA, Brazil What's another name for a hole-in-one in golf? Grand slam, glory hole, ace Some specific Dutch things as well, like who wrote the constitution.
  22. Yes but it's going too fast to post them I'll see which I remember Quickly one now: "North America has more inhabitants than South America. True or False?"
  23. Watching a weekly quiz on TV in which one can play with an app at home (the app reacts to the TV's sound) I had no idea this existed until my sister told me yesterday, as alternative for me obviously watching sports normally on every Sunday evening (and morning and afternoon)
  24. That old guy with his weird southern (absolutely not Amsterdam) pronounciation of 'Van Gogh'
