  1. One might wonder if today's races will even be held, considering it went from -17 yesterday to a slightly fresh -20 today, which is right on the limit of being allowed to race.
  2. No way they're going to race downhill, downhill, super-G, giant slalom on consecutive days A regular two-race weekend stands a better chance, if it'd be covered at all.
  3. To be fair, it is worth writing about when countries start closing entire borders again because of one or two confirmed cases in another country
  4. Are your countries in total panic mode because of the 'omicron variant' as well?
  5. Yeah, but I mean, better than having nine field players and no goalkeeper, I think the average goalkeeper playing as a field player does less damage than the average field player playing as a goalkeeper But yeah, not ideal anyway and whether it ends up being 0-14 or 0-10....I doubt it makes much difference for anyone
  6. By the way, a Belgian article says Belenenses specifically didn't want to ask for postponement? Not only that it wasn't going to be postponed, but that they made the choice not to ask for it..
  7. And it's 0-7 at halftime, not entirely surprising. At least there is a goalkeeper available...
  8. Not sure if you mean the SP, but those are not Marxists. I meant actual Marxists, not "They oppose my view and thus are Marxists".
  9. Which historically prosperous, peaceful and law-abiding countries have had recent (say, past five years) and actual Marxist candidates? So just making clear that the stereotypical redneck "Democrats are commies!!" nonsense doesn't count
  10. Just remind me to cross 'Being a teacher in North Korea' off of my list of things to do. Always that one annoying student that messes you up and gets you shipped off to a remote mine.
  11. ------ 1: - "What's the red flag for?" - "To warn people that the sea is dangerous today!" 2: - "You're just creating fear to take away my freedom!" - "Huh? No, I'm trying to protect you!" - "Only 0,0000000000042% of swimmers die! Red flags don't work!!" 3: - "You know nothing! Sheeple! Do your own research! Dictators! I'm going into the sea anyway!" - "Stop! At least bring a lifebuoy!" - "I don't believe in lifebuoys!" 4: - "Here we go again...."
  12. Just catching up now, but damn, that trip to China seems to have had some consequences with half the field's stuff being gone and/or still in customs
  13. Is Secret Garden the Olympic track in the cross, by the way? Commentator says so and I would assume so, but Wikipedia mentions the Taiwu Ski Resort? Or is that the same thing?
  14. Yeah Elvira was frighteningly strong in Idre already, she had a great summer
  15. Olympic host bonus in the extreme, as shown in speed skating (men's sprinting, mostly) and some sliding events Not surprising though Too bad Yu Qing isn't really making that step with the Chinese team, I still have a present she gave us laying around here so I'm cheering for her as well
  16. Oh well, 26th or 33rd...I wonder if it matters that much for athletes who aim for podium positions
  17. And a great race for Lotte Lie as well And excellent for Baiba
  18. Damn, scary pictures of that hard fall with Chapuis and Bohnacker. Especially the creepy way Bohnacker was moving a few seconds later (like a seizure) while Chapuis was desperately trying to keep him calm and in a 'safe' position. Took quite a while for any of the Chinese officials to arrive there at all, Chapuis was visibly worried about Bohnacker's situation. Hopefully they'll be alright.
  19. Duda had 4:11 in the junior race, slightly behind Mika's time. If I am not mistaken, Duda ends up with 316.81 points and Mika with 345.57 due to being in the senior race (despite being a tad faster). Bruna should get a decent 279.14 and Jaque should end up with an excellent 186.67 points. Again, if I'm not mistaken. Which would make me say Jaque is the winner of the day in the internal Brazilian battle, but Bruna takes an excellent second spot for now.
  20. For those interested, the start lists for the sprint qualifying in Santa Caterina can be found under the big blue button here: https://sciclubaltavaltellina.it/download/ordine-di-partenza-sprint/ A whole lot of participants, as expected led by the strong B-teams from France, Italy and Austria. @brunamoura starts at 10:02, with Jaque Mourão and Mika Picin in the minutes right behind her and Duda Ribera being in the junior race. As for the Brazilian men: it's Manex Silva in the juniors and Steve Hiestand in the seniors. That's of course a free advantage for Manex, but to be fair, he is quite likely the strongest of all Brazilian men anyway. Interesting that there's six Brazilians competing, and only one of them can really be seen as 100% Brazilian by now in terms of background/residence and such Jaque Mika Manex Steve Bruna
  21. It did not
  22. Out of curiousity due to remarks, of which I have absolutely no clue where they could be coming from: how many points has the Netherlands given Brazil?
  23. I once saw an episode of The Mole where participants had to learn some basics in a day and 'fight' in a lucha libre event in Mexico City, does that make me an expert?
