  1. Epic race And as you could see coming with a kilometer to go, gold for Italy Sure, Denmark had a gap, but looking at yesterday's times, that gap was too small. They needed to win more before Ganna got to the front. Too bad the Dutch commentators somehow didn't expect Ganna to close that, which was what everyone was looking for
  2. Here we go, Ganna vs the Danes for gold and the WR.
  3. You genuinely don't see the reason, or don't you agree with the reason? Because changing those diesel-powered things for something electric and so way less dirty is a really obvious reason
  4. As for the when: I saw these new thingies for the first time in Rio. And the why: I think you can guess why they went for an electric bike instead of the fuel-powered smoke machines
  5. Rajkowski with a bit of a controversial move at 75 km/h
  6. And non-DQ's when it should be way too obvious (i.e. Cavendish and his legendary move in the Rio omnium points race).
  7. At least one out of Gros, Voinova, Marchant will be out after the repechages.
  8. Hoogland ready to start the race against Mitchell but that was already the finish
  9. Didn't check it, but did she get that in those Cochabamba championships, by any chance?
  10. Marchant and Hinze are going to have to waste some unnecessary energy.
  11. It's still a shame there's not some somewhat fat, bearded 60-year old riding on his noisy motorbike ahead of the keirins anymore
  12. Yeah, so far Mayer has lost on all three events compared to his forecast, whereas Warner only lost marginally on one and won on the other two (especially shot put). Difference is still small though, but Mayer does need to pick it up.
  13. Nagy bows out with 218kg in the CJ. Warmup weight for Kuworge!
  14. So they made a ski slope, with the plan of that being given back to nature in the years after the Olympics, and now it's given back to nature after the Olympics? Well that actually sounds excellent!
  15. Yeah, there goes their last semi-realistic chance On the other hand, it does increase the chance for a Syrian medal, which should be not much of a problem now without any major issues for Asaad. Would be only their 4th ever medal and their first since 2004.
  16. Today is the day, history for the Netherlands! Enzo Kuworge will be the first Dutch weightlifter at the Olympics since Piet van der Kruk in 1968! Van der Kruk was the Dutch Eurosport commentator from 1992 until 2016, but sadly passed away in June last year. I find it heartbreaking that he, a true lover of the sport, didn't make it long enough - by a year and a bit - to finally see someone follow in his footsteps Meanwhile the B-group snatch finished, 180kg as best lift(s), which is the PB of Kuworge from earlier this year. Who knows what's possible in an A-group with only seven athletes, only three of which are really a whole class above the rest. I'm hoping for 6th for Kuworge.
  17. I doubt she'll ever reach the mega hype of Schippers, since Bol didn't even have her own RACE ALERT promo video, but she is infinitely more likeable (although Schippers not being anywhere near her best anymore somehow made her a lot more likeable than when she was all testosteroned up like a bull seeing red ), so it'd be really good.
