  1. Mayer making me nervous in the hurdles, by touching some of them, but it went alright. No worries in the discus, but damn that XX at 5.00m in the pole vault 5.40m in the end, excellently recovered
  2. Should have said that when I still had the stream open, I was paying more attention to feet than names at some point Definitely not Stano, both Japanese guys and the Ecuadorian and Chinese guy.
  3. To be fair, there are quite some athletes where you can pause and go frame by frame all you want, you won't see two feet in the air
  4. Quite a list of times the guys managed to walk themselves into today, the company of Kanaykin, Bakulin, Nizhegorodov etc (of course from times when the 35km wasn't taken so seriously yet)
  5. Nice bit of comedy when the cameras showed Matsunaga...from the front AND in slow motion
  6. Attila Valter is getting ready for a dream year, he has been signed by Jumbo. Dylan van Baarle, Wilco Kelderman and Jan Tratnik had already been confirmed earlier. Bookmakers are coming up with odds on the number of Jumbo stage wins next year: over/under 20.5
  7. Oh man, Ireland seems so good to spend the summer
  8. Sedjati is young too, early last year he had never even had a single official result and now he suddenly shot up to 2nd place in the world !
  9. He basically lost just as much in the long jump as he did in the shot put (roughly 65 points towards the forecast). At the moment he can still give up 200 points towards the forecast and still be the favourite for gold. Both his discus throw and javelin throw don't really have a huge outlier in the forecast, giving up 5 meters in both of them still wouldn't bring him in too much trouble. Personally I think the bigger danger will be the pole vault, where it will be harder to limit the damage considering his 5.45m. Still, Mayer will need to underperform very strongly today and Kaul will need to step it up instead of performing basically exactly as normal. Owens-Delerme and Ziemek are already overperforming a bit and they need to keep doing that quite strongly (combined with Mayer losing a whole lot) in order to really make it tight.. This made me realize I hadn't placed a bet in a long while, and where I expected something very low for Mayer, I'm surprised to see odds of 2.50+, so time for a small bet
  10. Exactly. Lane 1 is much harder, but still, if you're good enough to win, you can win from any lane. If you can't, you're not good enough. Plus, like 'the USA' decides who starts in which lane. But yeah, we know who is saying it, so....
  11. This is where I'll be going in October
  12. What's the standard of air quality though? I mean, does every country use the same scale and such? Here something like air quality is only mentioned on specifically bad days: either very hot or very cold (due to people using wood in their stoves and such). Otherwise we never hear anything about it, which is a good sign I suppose (definitely where I live air quality isn't much of an issue).
  13. Warner That's the end of the battle for gold, at least hopefully. Hopefully, because if it isn't, that'd mean Mayer gets an injury, NM, fall or something like that, and nobody wants to see that. Kaul still in excellent position for silver, but at least that is tight with Ziemek and Owens-Delerme now
  14. Well yeah, Vingegaard held back in the last 500m to make sure Van Aert would win
  15. Probably a good idea, considering the one thing countries all over the world have in common is that there's always some people who are stupid and do stuff like parking their (hot) car on a spot of grass, throwing away a cigarette and those kind of things I see the weather models are going for 40 as maximum in some spots today, with the current official record (so from an official weather station and not the thermometer someone has on his roof) being 40.3 degrees from 2007? Good luck...
  16. DNS for Nathan van Hooydonck today due to family circumstances. Which must be bad, if you're leaving the Tour at this moment... Not the first time he recently had 'family circumstances', by the way: at the end of December his girlfriend and him became parents, but their son died within days.
  17. Talented athletes and very, very talented shoemakers
  18. I wasn't much enjoying the 38-40 degrees earlier this week though, you are now having what we had some days ago You know, those days when at midnight it's still 30 degrees everywhere and at 05.00-06.00 the following morning, the coldest time of day, it's still 25-26. Ugh. Good luck sleeping in an upstairs bedroom right under the roof
  19. Oh yes. RIP Slovakia tomorrow, it was nice knowing you buddy!
  20. I hope so, like every team, but I can not say I would be even 1% surprised if they aren't It's sort of like Sky in their worst (i.e. strongest) years, especially with Froome being the most obvious example, or like Bahrain at some point last year (or the year before?), where everyone who moved there out of nothing was ten levels stronger.
  21. Let's see how it goes after the police raids that I assume are coming to Gewiss-Jumbo and UAE Postal Bahrain was insanely good until the police started raiding them
  22. Van Aert decimating the peloton, Laporte fooling everyone who was left
  23. Thanks. I'm kind of hoping something else pops up, because this seems smaller than usual even for summer biathlon, but anyhow I'm looking forward to it
  24. This was...unbelievable. As if the Austrian keeper had money on Germany winning with at least two goals difference.
