  1. Abele could do the pole vault without a pole and still win the decathlon.
  2. Just to clarify: I would absolutely say yes to ice bike hockey.
  3. That's what I meant. So many field/real hockey rip-offs: ice, roller skates etc, and now apparently also on bikes seeing as this is being discussed in a cycling thread
  4. I am still furious at the randomness of this whole mess.
  5. My most specific memory of the 2008 Olympics is that I was so incredibly annoyed at having gotten a job like 2 weeks before the Olympics started...working in a warehouse, where during some competitions (I mostly remember Marianne Vos winning gold on the track and the men's hockey team losing against I believe Germany after shoot-outs) I used my earphones to listen to the live radio broadcast on my phone while sneaking to places where nobody would see me And if someone came close, I quickly ripped out the earphones and put them in my pocket and continued to do the work (which consisted of putting things in the right places, so I did actually have to go to places with nobody around)
  6. Do they play this 'ice hockey' on bikes as well now? They really don't know where to end with real hockey rip-offs after already having ice, roller skates etc, do they?
  7. I'm happy with them It's often way too hard to recognize the athletes, I don't get why they simply use swimming caps in full national flag colours for example (or with something distinguishing them, like orange for the Dutch).
  8. I take back my bad words about you, eat all the fish and vegetables you want. This post
  9. Should have been quicker to conquer those high seas if you wanted more talent, 16th century Polish leaders clearly didn't have a smart mind thinking about future sports results.
  10. I remember Kaul's javelin from the junior champs and am really looking forward to that
  11. Don't know if it's because of the weather, but I do know with these clothes it was much easier to recognize the athletes, so +1 for that.
  12. Thanks, that's pretty clear. And rather sad to see a highly expensive coach being brought in resulting in other sport having to cut their budgets even more....like the university sports federation which basically has 0 reais left to send athletes to the Universiades (Brazil won't go to this season's Winter Universiade and most likely neither to the Summer Universiade, or with a tiny team), or the snow sports federation CBDN (although they actually do have money, but just spend it in really strange and unncessary ways instead of focussing on all athletes). Anyway, thanks, the handball situation is rather clear now..and sad.
  13. That's only for the marathon swimming, so 10k and 25k, today is the 5k
  14. The surprising 2015 400m hurdles world champion, Nicholas Bett of Kenya, has died in a road accident today, aged 28 https://www.nation.co.ke/sports/athletics/-Nicholas-Bett-dies-in-Nandi-road-crash/1100-4702938-u5p43tz/index.html
  15. I would sort of laugh my balls of in a bit of a cruel way if it turns out everyone was wrong about the Loch Ness Monster and one actually shows up in Loch Lomond during today's races.
  16. Never thought I'd say it, but a medal for Braun is far from impossible with one day to go Abele is untouchable if he doesn't fall on the hurdles or fouls out on the discus, javelin or PV. Shkurenyov is (not exactly surprising) falling back more and more and more compared to his Russian decathlon score. Kaul has the junior decathlon in the forecast, so one might expect him to give up points on the hurdles and discus, like he did on the shot put yesterday. Roe is going well, I'd say he has the biggest medal shot outside Abele and (if he can stop his decline) Shkurenyov. Uibo had a tough first day. I didn't compare the forecast scores with recent PB's or results in the individual events, but at least Braun is closer to a medal than I had thought he would be (and yeah I know, the chance of him not winning a medal is still bigger).
  17. Only specifically on an iPhone? Not on a Samsung?
  18. Hector is moving past south from Hawaii in the next few hours with speeds of around 180/200 km/h. Hawaii gets away quite luckily there, a tiny bit more to the north and the damage would be potentially very severe.
