    Didn't Pechstein skip the 3k to focus on the 5k because of some back issues? A quick search also brought up something about the European court for human rights and something they said shortly before the world champs, but I am really not interested enough in the whole Pechstein drama to spend time on reading that in German

    Keeping an eye on where small nations have a chance to qualify someone, whereas in the quota thread all you can do is see "hey, nation X has nobody qualified yet" instead of see "hey, nation X has nobody qualified yet, but they have some chances here and there".

    Yeah, but to be fair, all four Estonian athletes have the 'potential' to suddenly fall back a lot. I really hope it doesn't happen though

    I know Estonia is probably gonna fall out of the top-10 again here, but I find it so awesome that they're this high for a long time in both the men's and women's relay

    Like I said, the problem is not with the existence of a combined event, which should be there in my opinion, but with the way the courses are currently set up.

    More specifically, the way the combined is set up currently is a joke. The whole thing in itself is not bad at all if they manage to make it sort of balanced.

    That's all fine and dandy, but if someone is an idiot, that doesn't automatically make every point he makes wrong. Adolf Hitler was rather moronic, but if he said "you should not kill children" I would most definitely have agreed with him. Just like Kasper makes a perfectly fine point saying it's much easier for dictatorships to get the Olympics, no matter what kind of person he is besides that.

    So far there are apparently 6 biathletes at the EYOF

    Oh well, the big fans will take vacation from work and change their rhythm's anyway to still watch it, while the athletes know the competitions times more than a year before and so also have all the time in the world to prepare for competing in the morning or whatever. I hate TV stations controlling the starting times like this, but we shouldn't make it a bigger deal than it is in terms of outcomes.

    What's up with this weird aerials team event where there's an unequal number of athletes and so either 2 men + 1 woman or 1 man + 2 women per team? That's just nonsense

    IAAF doesn't want exciting stuff I mean, who cares that the 50km is almost all the time one of the most exciting events not just in athletics, but in the entire Olympic program, in terms of lead changes, fights for positions, drama during the race, spontaneous diarrhea, and so on. Boring events are much better!

    I find it a bit sad that we apparently collectively aren't sure if this lady in the photo is a decent but nothing special skier or the world's biggest alpine skiing super star
