  1. Why are there four french pole vaulters here ? I always thought that every events were capped to three athletes per country.
  2. New documentary from Hajo Seppelt on the endless wonders of the world of sports: http://www.sportschau.de/doping/video-the-big-money-run---african-athletes-on-sale-100.html
  3. Great thing with this, many will push the debate over life ban.
  4. Jeez... Don't be so obvious. People will stop falling in your shitty traps ultimately.
  5. I can't believe how so many people still believe the not tested positive athlete = clean athlete narrative. That's sweet.
  6. That was ridiculous from start to finish.
  7. (personnal) Best 1. Llodra-Tsonga reaching the final in London, winning 18-16 in the last set. I've never been so much into a sporting event. Ever. 2. Lemaitre bronze medal in Rio 3. 4x100 m freestyle win in 2012 Worst 1. London beeing awarded the 2012 Games 2. Alexis Vastine beeing screwed over by referees... twice. 3. Aurélie Muller beeing DSQ after winning Silver in Rio's 10 km swimming
  8. Yeah, it's far from sure. The sport (not the leisure activty mind you) is not really popular (ie media coverage is minimal). Besides, it does't really convoy a youth message, and might appears as too much franco-french. It does stand a chance, the best they will never have, but it is not as automatic as some might think. 98% of the french people wouldn' know that Orienteering is actually a sport, so that's not going to happen. And with karate basically appearing like a lock for Paris 2024, I don't see them adding yet an extra combat sport with Ju Jitsu (or Savate if anyone was thinking about that) Assuming, we will see the same procedure Than Tokyo and 5 additional sports will be added. I think these sports sould be considered as the front runners: - Karate: Cheap to stage, Uber high medals chances, doesn't appear like too french or too european, continuation from Tokyo 2020 - Sport Climbing, cheap enough to stage, decent medal chances, domestic following (Bercy Arena packed for recent world championship) - Squash: Cheap to stage and possibly set in any iconic Paris landscape, good enough medal chances, french president of the world federation (can't hurt),. Should be considered as a lock too, but it's squash and the Olympics, so you never know. - Surfing: Decent following in the South (South) West, historical legitimy, succesfull previous events (world cup stages, recent 2017 Biarritz WC), bring some needed sexyness to the Games. Almost guaranted to be held in 3 consecutives games (2020-2028) The 5th spot is more open IMHO, I could see a match between Boules, Roller (Speed roller beeing more likely than skateboarding) and baseball/softball (yes really) with an outside chance for Pelota (likely with the new kid on the block Frontball ) Anyway, that's all very hypotecal at that point.
  10. Versailles (not that bad either ). And yes, OW swimming and triathlon will be held in the Seine. Rowing and Canoeing will be held in a designated stadium on the outskirts of the city (allready beeing build and which should open next year). Outside, of temporary sites, hhe only imortant venues to be build are the Aquatic Center and the secondary Bercy venue..
  12. It's over now The final medals table : Germany has just overtaken Italy to reach the second post on the last day for the first time since Duisburg 2005.
  13. Cool, that makes for 5,000 more happy spectators then
  14. A goal or two will do it Four years ago we lost against you guys 111-2
  15. Thought, it was more. So about 8,000 in attendance. Still a very good numbers for the World Games.
  16. How large is the stadium ? That very might be a record attendance for the World games.
  17. Personally, it is. I allways really disliked how the numbers of events of any given sport doesn't seem to have any relation with the relative strengh of the given sport on the world scale (FINA, being by far the biggest culprit here). But, that's personnal, and, granted, the IOC doesn't seem to care. You right, I'll give him that. Even if the end's goal (IMHO) might not be that one, but simply having more medals to rack.
  18. Hopefulley, there is. Is it the full 18 a side version here ? Australian football is only a 9 a side game here (cricket ovals are kinda rare...) Bloodbath incoming
  19. How the hell, are the judges suppose to give marks in dancesport ?
  20. Yes, he is, but the goalkeeper is also a field player in this sport, which leads to quite a few empty nets ('goal volant') Immagine how boring, it will be to be just a goalkeeper in this sport.
