  1. The final entry lists now show a female 100m runner from NEP
  2. Should be total head-to-head points from comparing only those three pairs. LAT +5, GER -1, ITA -4
  3. Nearly all of the German athletes who had a chance for medals or Olypic quotas delivered in the highly competitive pre-Olypic year. After years Stäbler lost early but managed to fight through repechages and finished strong with Bronze, after reducing weight which is absolutely energy-sapping and WAY harder than gaining weight in order to start in a heavier category. In which universe is THAT exactly a "horrible" result (which was your initial statement)?
  4. ehm yeah.. 5 quota places and 3 medals so far (only few NOCs have more at this point), something I did not dare to dream of prior to the WC. If THIS is horrible, alright, Btw Stäbler won his title 2018 in a different weight class (72kg) which is not part of the Olympic programm. He had reduce weight to get in the 67kg class and won Bronze. I think that's pretty good
  5. Don'nt know exactly what was wrong with Bukowiecki but your answer is really awkward and - sorry - stupid. Because I am from Germany, I am forbidden to comment on doping cases? The GDR records are obviously from the 80's and NOONE here in Germany is happy that these records still stand as it is compoletely proven that nearly all East German athletes in 70's and 80's were doped starting in their youth (however, GDR were not the only one's in 80's but presumely the most effective)
  6. This was the worst Basketball game I ever had the honour to witness. What a desaster for Germany, but absolutely deserved.
  7. Okay agree, then the limit really seems to be too low. However, I'd prefer limits which can be achieved by a couple of pairs rather than the Beijing or Badminton courses. Real quick horses shouldn't be pushed that hard only to gain another second, imo.
  8. Really enjoy his information and remarks, too But I wonder if the limit's relly too easy, when 11 out of 46 riders are not able to finish in time? Admittedly, 27sec ahead of time from Vogel is really huge, but that's the execption so far (maybe beside Jung). Even Valette and Roman only had a few secs in time. Well maybe, the last riders tend to be quicker. What share of riders keeping the time limit would be normal from your experience?
  9. huh? The big majority so far did not manage to keep the time limit. Just a handful below 10min. Don't really understand the problem tbh
  10. Well, that depends on where you come from. She already had a very good PB over 1500 metres from 2017, while her best over 5000 metres prior to this season was 14:51min (which is still very good, but with much more potential to improve). Moreover, the shorter the distance, the more it depends on a perfect race (pace makers, weather, opponents etc.). As I said, there was a short phase in the race when the speed was clearly decelerated - without that, at least 1 or 2 secs would have been possible. Above this, I agree on her chances over 1500/5000 metres. Hopefully, she comes to an arrangement with Hassan and starts in that event which Hassan doesn't attend ;-) But, yes, she should have better chances over 5000 metres to get a medal. I'd be more than amazed over a medal of any color.
  11. Disappointed by 3:59 min, beating Genzebe Dibaba? :D The current national record of 3:57,7 min is a pretty high mark and everything must fit perfectly to beat this. Don't forget she's just 22, she will get (presumely) all national records between 1500m and 10000m in the next years. Don't know if you saw the race tonight but there was a bit of a slow down at about 1000 metres when anybody refused to make the pace. Without this, maybe the record would have already been broken.
  12. Not exactly a doping case (yet), but 400 metres runner Madiea Ghafoor (NED) caught with a Crystal Meth and Ecstacy stack worth 2 Mio EUR in her car.
  13. It's easy to hate Sun for obvious reasons regardless of his nationality. Always the same stupid discussions.
  14. Everyone who considers himself as a sports fan must get sick seeing that cheater winning and celebrating like that. What a shame! 10 of 10 points on the Efimova scale! Hopefully they'll send them into a lifetime ban in September, so that we don't have to witness such a disgrace in Tokyo.
  15. No offence, but after reading the last two pages of this thread I come to the conclusion that lots of you guys lost the touch to reality, humanity and whatsoever.
  16. No, GBR qualifies on the quota won by England. That's possible in the Women's competition.
  17. In Germany there is basically no news coverage about the European Games, except for the private TV station which holds broadcasting rights (and does a horrible job). Noone here takes notice of these Games. Except for those sports where Olympic qualifications are held (Table Tennis, Shooting, Archery), thus where they artificially tried to put significance on the European Games, even the athletes do not care. Tbh I don't see the relevance of such European Games, especially when having such a brillant event like the European Champonships as 2018 (Glasgow/Berlin). Imo if the European Games were cancelled, the sports world wouldn't miss anything.
  18. Romania is the positive surprise of the tournament. Their victories were not only luck. It's nice to see a team not only fighting, but willing to have the ball and find creative solutions. If they can develop that level, maybe the Men's team is going to be as strong as in the 90's. I think today the weather conditions had a huge impact. In the second half the Romanian guys were lacking power after the good 1st half.
  19. 1) Well, if we only count normal levels, we don't have to play tournaments anymore. AUT figured out the German play very well and made it hard to play the quick forward play we used to see in the first two matches. 2) I like to see the best teams at the OG. Nothing else was meant. Qualification often comes down to one single match where anything can happen ofc. ESP did the best work over past decade and I like to see them rewarded for this. if Ihave the choice, I prefer to see a nice technical forward play.
  20. I guess Nafi Thiam would kick some butts in this High Jump competition :D
  21. Well, AUT played very well today, didn't they? With a little less luck, GER could have been the loser here. In my opinion ESP is by far the best technical team and plays the best offensive football - over the entire last decade! France has a way more physical play which I don't enjoy very much - this is not only true for the Under-23 team, but also e.g. for last year's World Cup team.
  22. Well, when you have calibrated lines to detect offside by VAR, then half a boot is half a boot offside. And apart from this scene, in my opinion all other VAR checks were right, especially the second goal by ENG. Except the foul by CAM at 90+7', which would have also been a red card. Absolutely agree. I have no clue why she doesn't get more matches. For all users who don't follow German Bndesliga (first league): Steinhaus referees in the Men's first league and is one of the best and most respected referees, male or female, in Germany.
  23. So they organized a lame four-day team tournament for a single gold and allocate 10 single golds on the run today... with potentially completely different backwind conditions in the sprints. Which drugs do you have to use when planning such competitions? Ask for a friend.
  24. ESP is the youth team which deserves most the qualification to te OG. POL did their thing, but simply had no chance.
