  1. Even if it sounds harsh, but that's not sad, that's just self-inflicted stupidity. If you get offered a free quota (1 of 16 in that weight category), then the least you can expect is that you check your body weight before competition. Even in Oceania it should be a well known fact that you have to bring a weight below 49 kilogram on the scale if you want to compete in the -49kg category.
  2. Works for me: https://www.tissottiming.com/2020/ctrwch/de-de/default/Stage/11/live
  3. Yep, that is the point. If you take a look at this list of official FIL sponsors, you can only find German companies and firms: https://www.fil-luge.org/en/about-fil/partners-and-sponsors Exception's a bakery from South Tyrol which only sponsors Natural Track Luge. If we are honest, nobody with the exception of Germany, Austria and Italy gives a flying fuck about luge. There will be no money from the US or Asia spent for Luge. In general, I totally agree that it is desirable to have more World Cups outside of Germany. But that simply won't happen, at least not to that extent you wish for. Viessmann and BMW, who kept Luge alive over the past decades, are not interested in having half of the races at night times in Germany. Moreover, Calgary is currently closed indefinetely. Btw: It is really expensive to keep a track in shape over the years. Best example is the beautiful track in Cesana Pariol which had to be shut down for economic reasons.
  4. And another one on the first non-qualifying place. Congrats to ITA and SVK. Bitter, however nice results for our youth shooters Heckner and Walter today.
  5. Konstanze Klosterhalfen set a new European Indoor Record over 5000 metres (14:30,79 min) yesterday in Boston - the distance, however, is only rarely run at indoor meetings.
  6. 2016 & 2018 European Champion Nataliya Pryshchepa, now Nataliya Krol (UKR), over 800 metres has been suspended for using diuretics (cover-up substances)
  7. Now we come close to the 4:00 mark even in IP, which has been the magic threshold in Team Pursuit 20 years ago.. In other words: Ganna would have won the Silver medal in Team Pursuit at Sydney 2000
  8. Because the three other men had really strong results in the World Cup, so there was no reason to replace them. Funny thing is that Grotheer was only able to compete at the World Championships because Felix Keisinger won the Junior World Championships, earning a fourth place for Germany.
  9. And it'll always be if even the niche sport federation doesn't even broadcast it's World Championships. ;-) Considering that I'm gonna miss the Individual Pursuit qualifiers I am thinking about heading back to Berlin
  10. So did Andrea Heckner with two 93's in the last rounds. 10th place, 8th and 9th winning the quota. One more of the countless of times that German shooters fail closely to earn a quota place... meh. With six quota places so far, the German shooting federation comes near to a disastrous outcome regarding the number of participants (15 in Rio).
  11. I was in the velodrome, there were no fans at all btw: what a competition so far. I had the honor to witness two out-of-the-World Records in both Men's Team Pursuit and Men's Team Sprint, two NR in both Team Pursuits for Germany along with the first Team pursuit medal on a world level since 2008. Fantastic experience! Most impressive to me is Filippo Ganna so far. He lead the entire second and fourth kilometer of the Pursuits, pushing Italy close to the final. What a machine. Bet he is going to nail a WR in the Individual Pursuit tomorrow on the track...
  12. Thanks for the nice overview. Question: The UCI document reads that the World Champion in Team Pursuit gets 1500 points - while the World Champion of 2019 in Men's Team Pursuit (AUS) got 3000points? If this years champion only get 1500 points, why aren't all teams up to SUI already qualified? No races are discarded, right? Or what did I get wrong?
  13. Biathlon already got a check mark on my Life-To Do-list when I went to the World Championships in Oberhof 2004 with my then-girlfriend and my newly received driver's license
  14. My first time as spectator in a Track Cycling Velodrom tomorrow! I'm staying Wednesday and Thursday for the Team Pursuits (always my favorite event) - excited!
  15. All people want to look into a bright future with more wealth. It's a question whether the expectations are realistic. The EU can give money, but in the end the state government is (mostly) responsible on how those money is spend. Still, Poland is the biggest net receiver of the EU (12 Billions in 2018). By the way, maybe a higher share in Germany can afford two family holidays per year, but that is absolutely non-standard here, too. My family did not belong to that share, when I was a kid (90'/00's).
  16. I totally agree on that and I never said it is an exclusive problem of the Polish society. However, a different thing is that there is a political party in Poland which uses this fears and actually runs the government - that is the problem.
  17. Really, I do understand, it's just no good excuse. To a far lesser extent, we have the same in Germany with the "new" federal states, formerly GDR. The AfD (somewhere between right-wing populism and fascism light) has 25% in some of those states, while they are at 6% in some "old" federal states. I understand their problems and history, but it is no excuse to vote for Nazis.
  18. EU still has strong economic and political divides. At the moment, I don't see such cultural or religious divides that threaten the EU. However, economic divides are one of the biggest problems. But the problem of the EU (and that's the difference to the US) is that there are some member states which try to destroy main pillars of the EU, such as division of powers (Poland, Hungary) or telling lies to the voters. I don't see in the US that there are states who want to destroy the US or foundations of the constitution (well except of you of course regarding Californian independence )
  19. Pis constantly uses the narrative of the EU that has nothing else to do than pushing gender LGBT rights. That is hilarious! Of course EU has some guidelines regarding decriminalizing and stopping discrimination of LGBT, but the complete jurisdiction regarding gay marriage etc is obliged to the states. The EU doesn't give a shit if the member states legalize gay marriage or whatever. PIS just insinuates that EU pushes the member states to do. Unbelievable. And that is the answer to my question: Poland (i.e. Polish government) stays in the EU because PiS can use their well-known narratives of being the only defender of Polish home country against EU liberal LGBT multicultural bureaucrats.
  20. But that is the deal when joining the EU. So, what's the reason Poland is still in when the EU money is not that important? In general, I am VERY happy with Poland being part of the EU, but what PIS does is simply bigotry. Enjoying all advantages including the EU money, at the same time seeding hatred against EU whenever it is opportune.
  21. It's still a difference having 30% in favor for independence in voting polls and the actual probability for that to happen. I mean, would be a referendum be in line with the American constitution? If the Californians vote for independence, will Washington simply accept the independence? Especially, when CA is responsible for a high share of the US economic power? These are the questions, which actually determine the probability of independence. At the moment, it looks that even Scotland won't have another independence referendum as it won't be allowed from London. And yes, I am pretty sure that Blloomberg will be far from being the perfect president. But, the world is used to cope with regular American fuckups However, the frequency of those fuckups has been increased fatally since 2016 - so it would actually be a healing time when the world only needs to handle the familiar amount of fuckups.
  22. Well, wasting your vote for a 0.00001% chance of Californian independence, that's rather optimistic Without California and its delegates the US remainder is deemed to have Republicans in office btw. I really do not think that Bloomberg will handle foreign affairs like Trump. Bloomberg is able to oversee the consequences of what he is doing, while Trump isn't. Regarding the election, I see the problem that Trump has already won if Democrats refuse to elect the Dem candidate just because it isn't the candidate they favored in pre-elections. If some voters wouldn't have been so stupid to vote for Nader in 2000, the world would have been spared eight years of Bush/Chaney.
  23. Oh dear really? So, when push comes to shove, you prefer another term of the orange man slowly destroying your country than having Bloomberg? I do not like Bloomberg either, but he is some lightyears better than the imbecile you currently have in office.
  24. I was referring to the "Mixed Team" part of his comment 8 teams,2 throwers per team in knock out system, Quarterfinals to Final will take about 30 minutes, easy to follow - come on, IOC is keen on having such events in the Olympic program!
  25. Your suggestion would be more fun if it wasn't so realistic
