  1. Even the Georgian shenanigans at end couldn't prevent us from finally getting a win here. Happy, that we won't be leaving empty handed, but frustrated we didn't beat Montenegro, because this team was fully capable, if they just avoid stupid mistakes. Will see, what happens with Belgium tomorrow. Another superb performance by Eurobasket's top scorer Vezenkov I still can't believe he chose to stay in Olympiacos, he is probably in the top 3 or 5 top Europeans not playing in the NBA. And he truly deserves it. He (and Bost) are practically carrying the whole team on his shoulders and manages to bring out a better performance from the other players, who play only in the BG league.
  2. First half down and Dinamo Zagreb are leading Chelsea 1:0
  3. Looks like Serbia was the perfect choice, as Argentina gets a nice 3:0 win and won't be without chances against Brazil as well.
  4. Disappointed with the final outcome of our match with Turkey. Unlike the match with Spain, which was always one way train, today was much more even and the final score doesn't do justice. Great first half for us, where we were leading pretty much the entire time and playing confident. In the third things started drifting more towards Turkey, but not by much and it ended with 3-4 point deficit and it was still an open game. But then the fourth quarter came and everything fell apart.. I know, that theoretically we shouldn't even aim at beating a team like Turkey with X number of NBA players and others at the top of the Euroleague, but it's frustrating when you play good and never manage to get one win in such matches... Let's hope we can get one in the next matches, because this team doesn't deserve to come home winless.
  5. Let's hope she doesn't change her mind and stay retired. The USO & ESPN outdid themselves with the pandering, i can only imagine what could have happened if she made it to the end stages. Tomljanovic played a great match. I was waiting for the moment in the third, when she will fold, but it didn't happen, even after missing a couple of match points.
  6. Eurobasket starts tomorrow and it's always nice to have the opening match be between equal teams, in this case Spain and Bulgaria. You have to start the Championships with a banger match.
  7. Didn't bother watching the match of course, but i am dying laughing now They should revoke their licenses, this sport isn't for these people. I suggest changing to water polo.
  8. To be fair to everyone else, Brazil can't win all the time. You guys had an insane run for like 10-15 years where Brazil practically had some kind of tournament win every single year. It was expected that a slight slump will eventually happen, though i still consider Brazil as one of the favourites at these Worlds.
  9. Well everything went according to plan. I expect more of the same against the US on Sunday and goodbye on Tuesday.
  10. Fun Fact - There have been 20 World Championships in men's volleyball. It will be the first one without Russia, which means, that Bulgaria now ties them with 19 appearances, as the only 2 teams, which have missed only one. Our only absence was in the 1960 one, which was hosted by Brazil.
  11. The bashing is even more brutal in the first game, than i expected
  12. Amazing atmosphere in Katowice as always. Let's hope we put a semi-decent performance and Poland don't bash us too much.
  13. Not surprising at all, this is the direction for almost all sports in the last 15 years. It just took a while to hit wrestling, since it was one of the more traditional sports. Only some people here still think we are some kind of super-power in men's wrestling.. I'm excluding the women, as we do get good results there, but men's wrestling has been sunk for the last 10 years, bar some flashes. And by the looks of these junior events things are going to be getting worse.
  14. Only substantial thing in our team is that Biliyana Dudova won the spot for the coveted 62 kg against Taybe Yusein after the scandals this spring. This means, that Yusein, Olympic, 6 time World and 9 time European medalist is going to miss these Championships.
  15. Bulgarian squad for the upcoming (and eventual disappointing) World Championships: Setters: Georgi Seganov Dobromir Dimitrov Outside Hitters: Todor Skrimov Martin Atanasov Aleksandar Nikolov Asparuh Asparuhov Svetoslav Ivanov Opposites: Tsvetan Sokolov Denis Karyagin Middle Blockers: Aleks Grozdanov Svetoslav Gotsev Nikolay Kolev Stefan Chavdarov Libero: Vladislav Ivanov Starting line-up would be Seganov - Skrimov - Nikolov - Sokolov - Grozdanov - Gotsev, if everyone is healthy, which for Bulgaria always is a Herculean ask. Case in point -> Skrimov is going in injured and will miss the opening game with Poland with good faith to be ready for the USA match...
  16. So many white people are winning sprints, this must be the twilight zone
  17. Worse result for a women's European high jump title since 1974. YIKES!
  18. Hmmm, what protests exactly? Environment again?
  19. Sweden is giving Germany a run for it's money on being the best European table tennis nation. At least on the men's side.
  20. Any surprises or observations you saw, which you didn't expect pre-start?
  21. Finland winning the Steeplechase, wild things
  22. Alejandro Valverde's last race. Can't believe that time has come..
  23. I don't know what is more surprising to me, that they showed the full athletics, or that there is hockey being played in fricking August.
  24. What an upset for Murto with 3 national records! And yet, Finland can't win a ski-jumping medal to save their life.
  25. Кати Stefanidi will have to work for the gold.
