  1. This is nothing compared to our 7 x 1. Just take it easy and hope for the best in the next match. Thankfully this was the right moment to have a bad day and there are still a big chance to qualify and move ahead.
  2. LOL, this is fantastic. I didn't expect to have such a good laugh with the World Cup.
  3. Why does it look like they're trying to sell me jelly or pudding?
  4. I forgot to mention about the craziest thing I've seen at Worlds. But first, let me explain something. As most people know, scores are divided in execution and difficulty. There are separate scores for each. The execution score can never be contested, but the difficulty score can. Inquiries can be sent to the judges' panel only by a gymnast who challenges the difficulty score of his/her routine. This means that it is impossible to challenge the difficulty score of another routine. Jade Carey received a 6.0 D score and 13.833 in total. She believed she deserved a 6.1 D score, so she decided with her coach, who is her dad, to challenge her D score. At that point, she was guaranteed a medal with Jessica Gadirova still to come. Rebeca Andrade received 13.733 (5.9 D) and was in third at that point, with soon to come Jessica Gadirova seriously threatening her chance of getting a medal. Andrade sent an inquiry about her score before and the inquiry was rejected. Carey's inquiry, however, caused her score to change... but it was changed to a LOWER score. So, Carey's difficulty was reduced to 5.9 and her final score was 13.733. Now, this meant that Carey tied Rebeca. Gadirova performs and wins, and then Carey gets a bronze medal along with Rebeca. If Carey had not challenged her own score, she would have earned the bronze medal and Rebeca Andrade would have been fourth. So, basically, Jade Carey unknowingly gifted Rebeca Andrade a medal everybody was not expecting her to win.
  5. Everything was set up from the start for Jessica Gadirova to win gold. No surprises here. Absolutely disgusting. I hope Great Britain never hosts the World Championships again.
  6. Another horrible, horrible final with two random Japanese girls getting medals. The greatest achievement of the medalists was not to fall or have a big balance check. It's been almost 10 years since we had a good World/Olympic final on beam where gymnasts could perform big skills without falling. That being said, congrats to Ellie Black. Not my favorite routine, but she did it very well and deserved a medal.
  7. She had mistakes every single day. During qualifications, she had a terrible second vault and missed VT finals. In team finals she had a fall off the beam. In the all-around she had a big mistake on bars. In the bars final she fell. In the beam final she fell. Her mind game is completely off. She came to the Worlds as a superstar and while she's leaving the competition with the most prestigious medal, gold in the all-around, we expected a lot more from her.
  8. He informed he would not go to Tokyo and then he kind of disappeared. He probably has retired with little fanfarre.
  9. Not so unlucky. She has a World medal and an European title. Given her execution, this is a lot more than I expected from her.
  10. What a beautiful podium on the pommel horse. I'm almost in tears. So, so deserved and fair!
  11. For once I'll not complain about Great Britain being overscored. It was a fair result. Now, silver and bronze are totally wrong. Hashimoto was super overscored here and Doi should be ashamed to be gifted a medal. Some of his pirouettes were clearly incomplete. Bartolini and Gischard were much more deserving.
  12. Hashimoto vs Boheng is the best rivalry that could have happened in men's all-around. Uchimura was basically ahead of everyone and even when he had problems, the judges would turn a blind eye. I guess we all remember when Verniaiev was robbed of a gold medal in Rio, or when Japan was gifted an undeserved team silver medal in London. This time, however, the judges are not eating up Hashimoto, and Boheng has the talent and the mental strength to challenge him. The only problem for me (and this has nothing to do with the quality of his gymnastics, just a pet peeve of mine) is that Hashimoto, pretty much like Uchimura, is as charismatic as a cucumber.
  13. At the halfway mark, the difference between the third place and twelfth place is only 0.799. Currently, Jake Jarman sits in 12th. I have a feeling I know where this will end.
  14. Thank you! She lost at least 0.6 in execution with that mistake on bars, and she also had a nervous beginning on beam and lost two connections (lower difficulty) but when she realized she messed up, she tried a new connection she has never done before (and nailed it). At that point I knew she would be World Champion. Very few gymnasts have shown this level of quick thinking on beam. In recent years, only Mustafina and Sanne Wevers that I can recall from the top of my head.
  15. Yes. This has been done for 10+ years, as far as I recall.
  16. Of course I'm super happy about Andrade, but I just can't stomach Great Britain being overscored anymore. I'll just leave this here.
  17. A deep squat is a 0.5 deduction. Underrotation = difficulty devalued. Touching the hands on the floor is a 1.0 deduction. I get it that basically everybody performed horribly except for China, and that silver and bronze medals would be awarded no matter how poorly countries performed. But between Italy and Great Britain, I really don't know which one got more overscored today. Of course, the gymnasts have nothing to do with it. A medal is a medal, so more power to them. But if one cares about the performances rather than national flags, it's sad to see FIG playing favorites here.
  18. 13.833 for Jake Jarman's vault both underrotated and counting a fall. Sour grapes? I guess that there's something rotten somewhere in FIG's headquarters. A lesson for the future: any country that wants to automatically qualify teams for the Olympics no matter what happens should just volunteer to host the World Championships.
  19. Italy lost in the end, and Great Britain made full use of the judges' gifts. A bronze medal with scores in the range of 10, 12 and 12 on the pommel horse. Japan also had a really bad day. I cannot even say I'm excited after watching this. I feel sad, really. Another disappointing team final.
  20. This is not their fault. Our focus has always been on specific events. So to say, we do not have a competitive men's team, and I don't really think this is our focus. The guys qualified for the event finals in the events they were "supposed" to qualify from the start: Caio on vault and Nory on the high bar. Our chances of a team medal have always been null, and to be honest I never thought they would break the top 16, let alone qualify in 7th here.
  21. LOL, 13.733 for Italy on floor with a very simple routine with some major mistakes. I swear I'm not picking on the Italians, but they are getting much bigger scores than their routines deserve. Great Britain too, but the home court effect surely plays a part here. It's nearly impossible for them after the pommels rotation, but the judges are making sure that they overscore every single routine from the British guys all the same.
  22. 14.3 for Macchini with the worst execution I've seen in a long, long time. Almost all of his pirouettes deserved 0.5 in deductions AND no credit for difficulty. Really, the judges are going to throw this medal on Italy's lap. What a shame.
