  1. I agree that most people struggled, but we cannot just let this slide. This is the most important competition in this sport this year. Not even in the humblest World Challenge Cup stage I've heard about such a dangerous thing. The competition should have been suspended once the leak was discovered. At the very least, gymnasts should have been allowed to perform on beam again. It was not a fair competition to all gymnasts, and there were Olympic berths at stake. In no way I'm asking for medals to be redistributed and Olympic berths to be taken away from the gymnasts and nations who have qualified. But, seriously, we cannot just say "oops" and keep the ball rolling as if nothing happened.
  2. There was water dripping ON THE BALANCE BEAM. Of course, many gymnasts had to count a fall in their routines. I'm not contesting the results, but something has to be done about it. The organization cannot just get away with this kind of thing.
  3. No chance at all. I strongly believe she will also not compete on floor.
  4. Canada will get bronze. This is UNREAL! Massive achievement! Congratulations to my fellow Canadians here!
  5. I honestly thought Brazil would struggle to reach top 16, so this seventh place is OUTSTANDING.
  6. Second and third reserves. Bummer. Egypt deserved better. But it was a great team performance!
  7. Big surprises today! not making team finals is a HUGE upset. Some would even say they could have gotten a medal! And a gymnast from made it to the PH final! AMAZING!!!
  8. I'd say Brazil would easily win a medal, but with Flávia Saraiva probably injured, we have no chance of a medal now. Brazil had lots of mistakes on beam and a watered-down bars routine from Flávia. We can realistically score around 166 on a great day. But we have no chance if Flávia is hurt.
  9. At least on paper, are the countries I'd say have the biggest chance of a medal. China and Italy lost many points on beam, as well as Brazil. Great Britain was heavily helped by the judges.
  10. I'm in tears. The worst president I have witnessed in my life will finally be booted out of office. The race should not have been this close, but I am just relieved we will not have to stomach this despicable human being as our president for 4 more years.
  11. My monthly income is bigger than 97% of the Brazilians, and I will never, ever vote for any right-wing politician in my life. And I'm not rich by any means. It's just that everybody else is just too poor.
  12. Mind you that there has been an orchestrated "operation" setting roadblocks all around the nation, HALF of these in the Northeastern Region, in order to discourage Northeastern inhabitants to vote. I really, really hate Bolsonaro's government.
  13. Bolsonaro's lead is extremely slim, thankfully. Once the votes from the big cities in the Northeastern Region are added to the sum, he'll hopefully be considerably behind Lula.
  14. is safe for the team final. I'm really upset with the performances today. lost an easy gold medal on vault, Flávia Saraiva is probably hurt and now we'll have no chances of a team medal, a second all-around medal and maybe a medal on floor. We still have Rebeca in the all-around, floor, bars and maybe beam, but this is definitely not the way I thought this would be.
  15. are the teams I believe will outscore Canada, while could also pose a threat. But, to be honest, I think Canada is safe.
  16. My Twitter bubble of Brazilian fans is full of crazy, aggressive and frustrated people throwing angry remarks about this loss. To be honest, I feel less and less inclined to cheer for Brazil in most sports because, well, it's easy to dislike this kind of people.
  17. After hosting the 2018 edition, I expected Bolivia to properly make use of the gyms, stadiums and facilities to improve their level, but... 3 bronze medals, all in boxing, and now I'm really worried about the state of sports in the country.
  18. Men's triple jump, maybe? Edit: Oh, great, so Miguel van Assen is apparently not competing here. Bummer.
  19. Judo, swimming and volleyball are the only sports I used to care about besides artistic and rhythmic gymnastics (and, occasionally, table tennis, tennis and archery), but it's been hard following judo lately. Most of the decisions seem to be so unfair and biased that it almost feels like I'm watching judges making political decisions rather than decisions based on the actual bouts.
  20. I almost feel bad for Japan. Some of the most intense defenses I've seen in my life. Fukudome is a fighter, no question about it. But I'm happy for this Brazilian team, of course. I can't see they beating Italy again, but you never know.
  21. Everything was more or less according to what I expected. We had a "mixed" team, with Carolyne, Júlia and Christal from our A team, and Beatriz, Thais and Lu Maia from our B team. Only Carolyne and Júlia got individual medals. I expected medals for Thais on bars and Lu Maia on beam too, especially because the level of the competition was not high at all, but the B team only proved why they are the B team and got no medals.
  22. was robbed. Unbelievable. Turoboyev should have received a third shido penalty. This gold medal for is a shame.
  23. Every medal deserves some kind of acknowledgement, but literally half of the medals were on team/relay events, so I don't really think this is so impressive. I believe Caio Souza could earn 5 individual medals too, what would put him in an even position with Giovana.
  24. Wait, no round of 16? Just another set of pool matches? I have little to no interest in volleyball nowadays, and this system takes all the fun from the event, in my opinion.
