  1. Thank you! She lost at least 0.6 in execution with that mistake on bars, and she also had a nervous beginning on beam and lost two connections (lower difficulty) but when she realized she messed up, she tried a new connection she has never done before (and nailed it). At that point I knew she would be World Champion. Very few gymnasts have shown this level of quick thinking on beam. In recent years, only Mustafina and Sanne Wevers that I can recall from the top of my head.
  2. Yes. This has been done for 10+ years, as far as I recall.
  3. Of course I'm super happy about Andrade, but I just can't stomach Great Britain being overscored anymore. I'll just leave this here.
  4. A deep squat is a 0.5 deduction. Underrotation = difficulty devalued. Touching the hands on the floor is a 1.0 deduction. I get it that basically everybody performed horribly except for China, and that silver and bronze medals would be awarded no matter how poorly countries performed. But between Italy and Great Britain, I really don't know which one got more overscored today. Of course, the gymnasts have nothing to do with it. A medal is a medal, so more power to them. But if one cares about the performances rather than national flags, it's sad to see FIG playing favorites here.
  5. 13.833 for Jake Jarman's vault both underrotated and counting a fall. Sour grapes? I guess that there's something rotten somewhere in FIG's headquarters. A lesson for the future: any country that wants to automatically qualify teams for the Olympics no matter what happens should just volunteer to host the World Championships.
  6. Italy lost in the end, and Great Britain made full use of the judges' gifts. A bronze medal with scores in the range of 10, 12 and 12 on the pommel horse. Japan also had a really bad day. I cannot even say I'm excited after watching this. I feel sad, really. Another disappointing team final.
  7. This is not their fault. Our focus has always been on specific events. So to say, we do not have a competitive men's team, and I don't really think this is our focus. The guys qualified for the event finals in the events they were "supposed" to qualify from the start: Caio on vault and Nory on the high bar. Our chances of a team medal have always been null, and to be honest I never thought they would break the top 16, let alone qualify in 7th here.
  8. LOL, 13.733 for Italy on floor with a very simple routine with some major mistakes. I swear I'm not picking on the Italians, but they are getting much bigger scores than their routines deserve. Great Britain too, but the home court effect surely plays a part here. It's nearly impossible for them after the pommels rotation, but the judges are making sure that they overscore every single routine from the British guys all the same.
  9. 14.3 for Macchini with the worst execution I've seen in a long, long time. Almost all of his pirouettes deserved 0.5 in deductions AND no credit for difficulty. Really, the judges are going to throw this medal on Italy's lap. What a shame.
  10. I agree that most people struggled, but we cannot just let this slide. This is the most important competition in this sport this year. Not even in the humblest World Challenge Cup stage I've heard about such a dangerous thing. The competition should have been suspended once the leak was discovered. At the very least, gymnasts should have been allowed to perform on beam again. It was not a fair competition to all gymnasts, and there were Olympic berths at stake. In no way I'm asking for medals to be redistributed and Olympic berths to be taken away from the gymnasts and nations who have qualified. But, seriously, we cannot just say "oops" and keep the ball rolling as if nothing happened.
  11. There was water dripping ON THE BALANCE BEAM. Of course, many gymnasts had to count a fall in their routines. I'm not contesting the results, but something has to be done about it. The organization cannot just get away with this kind of thing.
  12. No chance at all. I strongly believe she will also not compete on floor.
  13. Canada will get bronze. This is UNREAL! Massive achievement! Congratulations to my fellow Canadians here!
  14. I honestly thought Brazil would struggle to reach top 16, so this seventh place is OUTSTANDING.
  15. Second and third reserves. Bummer. Egypt deserved better. But it was a great team performance!
  16. Big surprises today! not making team finals is a HUGE upset. Some would even say they could have gotten a medal! And a gymnast from made it to the PH final! AMAZING!!!
  17. I'd say Brazil would easily win a medal, but with Flávia Saraiva probably injured, we have no chance of a medal now. Brazil had lots of mistakes on beam and a watered-down bars routine from Flávia. We can realistically score around 166 on a great day. But we have no chance if Flávia is hurt.
  18. At least on paper, are the countries I'd say have the biggest chance of a medal. China and Italy lost many points on beam, as well as Brazil. Great Britain was heavily helped by the judges.
  19. I'm in tears. The worst president I have witnessed in my life will finally be booted out of office. The race should not have been this close, but I am just relieved we will not have to stomach this despicable human being as our president for 4 more years.
  20. My monthly income is bigger than 97% of the Brazilians, and I will never, ever vote for any right-wing politician in my life. And I'm not rich by any means. It's just that everybody else is just too poor.
  21. Mind you that there has been an orchestrated "operation" setting roadblocks all around the nation, HALF of these in the Northeastern Region, in order to discourage Northeastern inhabitants to vote. I really, really hate Bolsonaro's government.
  22. Bolsonaro's lead is extremely slim, thankfully. Once the votes from the big cities in the Northeastern Region are added to the sum, he'll hopefully be considerably behind Lula.
  23. is safe for the team final. I'm really upset with the performances today. lost an easy gold medal on vault, Flávia Saraiva is probably hurt and now we'll have no chances of a team medal, a second all-around medal and maybe a medal on floor. We still have Rebeca in the all-around, floor, bars and maybe beam, but this is definitely not the way I thought this would be.
  24. are the teams I believe will outscore Canada, while could also pose a threat. But, to be honest, I think Canada is safe.
  25. My Twitter bubble of Brazilian fans is full of crazy, aggressive and frustrated people throwing angry remarks about this loss. To be honest, I feel less and less inclined to cheer for Brazil in most sports because, well, it's easy to dislike this kind of people.
