  1. Jays had such great opportunities to win, Lukes takes one of those balls in the 10th and they walk in the winning run. That boneheaded run to home in the....8th? 9th? Pitching to Ohtani letting him tie it (he was the only guy hitting the Jays). I went to bed at 1230am my time (14th inning), couldn't stay up. Scheider depleted the bench by the end of the 9th. I don't get the constant subs. Just trust your guys, man. Looking at their line up in extra innings there was almost no way the Jays were going to mount any great offensive push without help (which they got, but still squandered). Considering that, hopefully the Dodgers's roster is exhausted tonight, especially Ohtani who is pitching.
  2. I realize this is at altitude while Beijing was not, but some of these times are very good and within medaling (while others are way off). Brunet's 500 time is just 1/10 off the OR, for example. Other times aren't as promising, particularly in the women's long distances.
  3. Been watching. I used to be really into baseball growing up, but then with life just let it trail off. Coming back, I'm very impressed how quick the games are now. The manager used to visit the mound 19 times an inning and there were 65 time outs per at bat. The product is much better now. I was lucky enough to be around for their two World Series, seeing them live a few times (regular season). That truly was an exceptional team. But these are the times new stars are born, and Springer sure stepped up on Monday. The Dodgers will be tough, but who knows with home field advantage. Let's Go Blue Jays!
  4. I had the privilege of going to the Beijing 2022 Olympics because I happened to live there and no one else was allowed into the city due to zero Covid. Got to go to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for free (along with a hockey game). Anyway, during the Closing Ceremonies a Russian was honored with winning gold in one of the last events. A guy I didn't know from two seats down (because we were spaced out) leaned over and asked me how long until that gold was taken away due to doping. We laughed. I don't even know if it was eventually. I just know that Canada was robbed of a bronze in figure skating team event after Russian doping. It's just like clockwork, why even bother? I'm part Ukrainian, so yes the war, but Russian athletes with help from their government, can't seem to stop themselves. They even dope in curling. Enough already.
  5. Amazing! Gotta be honest, I was doubting their strategy in the relay, thinking they were leaving it too late. But man, they just dominated like they were against children the last 10 laps. Not to get ahead of ourselves, but I cannot wait to see this team at the Olympics.
  6. Another gold for Canada in the mixed relay!
  7. Sarault is a monster right now.
  8. He wins another gold! And a silver! (and a 4th, of course)!
  9. I watched the replay and after the other two fell I started shouting, "STAY ON YOUR FEET WILLY!" Then I was like, "Oh yeah, I know what happens..."
  10. Man, I was supposed to watch all this live, but I had to pick my car up from the shop after a simple oil change. Stopped at the Korean store on the way home and it wouldn't start again. They sent someone to fix it (loose battery connection), but maybe I'll try someone else next time. Anyway, YAY! Wish I could rewind on the CBC.
  11. Reminds me of Hamelin in Sochi. Great start, then fall after fall. I hope he has a better Olympics.
  12. Op, never mind. Canada DQ'ed.
  13. Yeah, I'd be very happy with those results at the Olympics, but it's disappointing for a home competition. Hopefully better next weekend.
  14. Another gold for Sarault!
  15. Hopefully they can pull it out in the relay.
  16. Silver for Boutin in the 500m! (and 5th for Sarault) (edited)
  17. Pretty casual finish by Dubois costs him a spot in the final of the 1000m. No men will be there for Canada.
  18. Yet another fall.... Dandjinou's second fall so far.
  19. Got lucky there. Hopefully the rest of them can stay on their feet today.
  20. 4 races, 2 golds and 2 bronzes (and 2x 4ths, of course). Not bad at all for day 1. Unfortunately fall for Dandjinou.
  21. Where are you watching this? Edit: Nvmd, it's CBC.
  22. Just found out one of my students will be competing for Guatemala! Since it's here in Guate, I will try to go watch live.
