Qualification Tracker

Test

  1. to be honest they both tried to score for 1 or 2 minutes but yes the last minute was just nothing. they were stalling. and why not. that was enough for both of them. people usually don't advise having round robin competition in individual sports. specially martial arts.
  2. according to our Ukrainian friend @Illya here that they will pick this weight.
  3. it seems are going to qualify in women's Kata
  4. doesn't change for . Ireland will have a chance if 1) India rejects the quota, 2) no wild card will be awarded in this weight but it will be important for Poland @rybak this way Albania qualifies in 81kg and Poland in 96kg. and again keep in mind I'm not sure about anything I'm writing here
  5. that's huge, that will make lots of changes, Colombia has lots of weightlifters high in the ranking. but this is just one day before the final confirmation. I really don't know how IWF is going to deal with this.
  6. I'm 100% sure she doesn't know. and that's better. because with these rules you never can be 100% sure. it's better to qualify directly and not leave anything to luck.
  7. in case you are not familiar with Round Robin competitions in Karate, that rule "Hantei" doesn't exist here. if they finish 0-0 that will be counted as a draw. but senshu still exists, so it's possible to win a match 1-1. the first tie breaker is head to head but the next one is the total number of points you score. but having a round robin competition in Kata is interesting. they have to perform 3 different Katas for these 3 matches. they have to decide when and against who perform their favorite Kata. if that was me I would use my best Kata against the weaker opponent here. because one win is probably enough for you to qualify.
  8. I believe she is suspended by your local anti-doping organization, not by IWF . IWF is probably not aware of that. maybe that's why she is still in the list. or maybe she managed to defend herself and she is not suspended anymore. IWF removed all suspended weightlifters already, for example Chumak (UKR) got suspended only few days ago but they removed him from the list.
  9. Continental quotas ladder @phelps by my count Semeraro is 100% safe. there is no scenario that both +61 spots been taken before Europe. no big change on the men's side, I will leave that until tomorrow. Oceania: 1. Anacan (Kata - Rank 9) - Qualified Continental Quota Africa: 1. Abdelaziz (+61kg - Rank 5) 2. Sayed (55kg - Rank 11) - failed to qualify directly America: 1. Grande (61kg - Rank 9) - will go to Tokyo even if doesn't qualify directly 2. Kumizaki (55kg - Rank 19) - failed to qualify directly Asia: 1. Alipour (61kg - Rank 6) - will go to Tokyo even if doesn't qualify directly 2. Li (55kg - Rank 8) - failed to qualify directly 3. Berultseva (+61kg - Rank 9) Europe: 1. Semeraro (+61kg - Rank 11)- will go to Tokyo even if doesn't qualify directly 2. Serogina (61kg - Rank 12) 3. Plank (55kg - Rank 14) - failed to qualify directly
  10. Yes. that would be Radwa, you can't replace her but with this result, Alipour (61kg) is guaranteed the Asian quota even if she loses tomorrow. I'm 100% sure she doesn't know that. of course only if my calculations are correct. I'm 99% sure I'm not wrong.
  11. so and are in top 4 waiting for the repechage
  12. Women's 55kg semifinals: Zhangbyrbay vs Warling Chernysheva vs Banaszczyk
  13. oh well. lots of reasons for that. the economy is sick in Iran. it never gets better. it's just about not getting worse. but these 4-5 years were 10 times worse because of the sanctions. just to give you a simple idea. 4 years ago 1 dollar = 40,000 Rials. now it's 230,000 Rials. (that was 300,000 last year) you can imagine how that affected price of everything here. and coronavirus also was the last nail to the coffin. most people prefer to take their money and invest somewhere else. in Turkey, in Iraq, in Canada. that means less jobs and there are internal reasons of course, the corruption, the IRGC taking over of everything in economy, poor management. but again they all got worst because of the sanctions. when you can't deal with the world, somebody will take benefit of that. the corruption grows. and there is no light at the end of the tunnel , things will get much worse after the election in few days.
  14. they will start from zero. the only sure thing is that HUN and TUR will play the last match of the group.
  15. yeah people want to live "easier" with their family around but that's not really his reason to leave Iran. that was probably the only stupid thing came to his mind. that was more of a joke. I'm quite sure he doesn't even believe his wife is a worthy coach. btw congrats to "almost" two quotas today. Turkey is heading to have a full team of 8 athletes in Karate. which will be super amazing considering the small number of quotas we have in this sport. just for the record Samdan and Tadissi made it to the final round. we will have two more after the repechage
  16. yeah that's what concerns me. I really don't care about these athletes . they are mostly "leftovers" only 2 or 3 of them (Mollaei, Beigi in Taekwondo) still would make the Iranian squad. but the genie is out of the box 15-20 years ago it was a very bad thing to go represent somewhere else. that was a taboo, nobody would dare doing that. but then when it started to happen. it's not a very bad thing anymore. some people (who are upset with the regime here) even go to their social media supporting them for doing that. in past so many athletes used to live abroad for different reasons but still came to compete for Iran during the competitions. it's the opposite now. we have people living in Iran but represent Azerbaijan for example! btw there is simply one major reason for that. financial situation. people in Iran suffered big big time in past 4-5 years. amateur athletes too, you never see someone in football, volleyball or basketball asking to be a refugee, they are getting paid well. but what's really sad is that they are lying to get what they want. and lying big time. stupid funny lies sometimes. and since the Iranian regime is notorious (and they should be) people in west simply buy these stupid lies. believe me when they speak to Persian media they say something else. something like I was good enough to make the national team but coach was mean to me, they never gave me a chance to compete blah blah. these kind of reasons will never make you a refugee. but hey IOC buys it and I somehow think IOC knows they are lying. but blaming Iran is the easiest thing nowadays. that makes you a "human right" activist. western media praises you for that. this is political from IOC to let these number of Iranians participate as part of the refugee team. when you hear the word "refugee" someone who had a tough life and suffered a lot comes to mind . hell no. Alizadeh was living like a queen here. (she received financial support more than any other amateur athlete in history of Iran) but yes the future doesn't look good. doesn't look good at all. I mean in every aspects and sport is just one of them.
  17. oh wow what a justified reason to be a refugee. he wanted his lovely wife to be his coach. well just for info, in Iran traditionally we have a national team coach in all sports. nobody brings his own personal coach to the competition. and btw that's a lie, his wife is not a serious coach. she was a 2nd tier athlete at best. but who cares IOC buys these lies .
  18. Amir Mehdizadeh was terrible and lost handily to Jordan. I don't think JOR can make it to the final. even if he does. Mehdizadeh is not in a good shape today to beat all those guys in the repechage. pity he used to be great. not anymore obviously what's "sad" is that he beat Hamoun Derafshipour in our trials and then Derafshipour (2018 Worlds bronze medalist) left Iran claiming that's just because of his job in Canada and he still wishes to represent Iran in international competitions. but few days ago all of a sudden his name appeared in the "Refugee team" it's kind of feel great to lose trials in your own country and then still goes to the Olympics from the backdoor without doing anything. and bringing your own wife to the Games as your coach!
  19. that's half correct but not exactly . nobody wears Burka ! that's something else (loose Hijab) and they usually don't wait until the hotel to remove that. most people remove that in the plane btw people do everything in private parties etc. but if you want to go to a club, you won't find one in Iran.
  20. nobody can beat Iran in this regard. and we will take another step back in few days in the next election when a monster will be elected as the president.
  21. yeah maybe but she scored a high point (her best) in the bronze medal match. which would be enough for her to win the group in the 3rd round. but we can't compare scores from each round because they are not performing the same Kata. but you expect the increase in each round.
  22. so it will be for 3 Kata quotas
  23. while you can't compare scores from different pools because different judges are there but Sadeghi's 2nd round result from the same pool was better than Bozan's 3rd round result! I don't know if she just performed her best Kata too early or simply had a bad performance in the 3rd round.
  24. so here we go Bozan and Juettner are already qualified for the final round these 2 matches will determine the two other athletes for the final round Sadeghi vs Putri Feracci vs Chien
  25. Bozan wins the group and advanced to the final round Feracci and Sadeghi were tied on points but apparently the French girl is 2nd.
