it looked like Shi Zhiyong could life much more than that. all attempts looked very easy for him ! interesting silver medal for Won JS from Group B, huge improvement after bombing out at the Asian Games. 19th place for Soltani I know he is just 18 but still that was terrible for someone in Group A.

just watched this 205kg in snatch for someone with 96kg bodyweight ! this is 9kg more than Standard record for 109kg ! even though he is not going to try that in the competition. because of Tian Tao he will probably only try to make a good gap for the CJ where Tian Tao sometimes does impossible works. still 185kg WR should be too easy for him.

I'm 100% sure this is no problem for China to qualify the maximum possible quota. they should not even care about that. but I thought after being absent for a year. the Chinese team is more prepared to dominate the competition . making a statement or something like that. only one gold after 6 events isn't great for China.

Only new WR in total so far we have new WR only in 4 out of 9 possible chances in men's events. I really don't like this "World Standards" to remain for long. I was expecting more from China. but at least they got their first gold.

This is unbelievable ! https://www.iwf.net/2018/11/03/iwf-statement-womens-45kg-bodyweight-category/ first. the Turkmen girl deserved this medal (even though her lift was dubious and even one judge gave her a red light) BUT when they rejected her and awarded the medal yesterday this is unbelievable to change it a day later ! they also let Turkmenistan has 4 "extra" weightlifters in the competition. they are listed in start list as "extra" something MQS in shooting but the thing is , we never had such thing. . there is no such thing in the rules. nothing never changes in IWF as long as Tamas Ajan is the president. it's more normal to have corruption in sports like wrestling or boxing because of the nature of officiating in these sports. but in weightlifting ?! they bend the rules whenever they want. I know for a fact that they did sometimes in favor and sometimes against Iran. depends on Ajan's relationship with the Iranian officials at the time.

he wanted a better CJ medal. he probably knew he has no chance for 174kg. even though I would try 174 but sometimes these snatch / CJ medals come to the play. what a day for Eko Yuli Irawan. he was great. 3 gold medals. 2 WRs. and he was capable for lifting more. interesting that still no gold medal for China, I thought they are going to destroy the competition after being banned for a year. at least not yet.

World Record and most probably first ever gold medal of Indonesia for Irawan what a year for him

EY Irawan won Indonesia's first ever gold in Weightlifting at the Asian Games couple months ago in Jakarta. let's see if he can win Indonesia's first ever gold in men's weightlifting . I was hoping for a WR attempt , he was definitely capable of that in snatch but well medals come first always.

wow they did the same mistake again !! Vietnam 2nd attempt should be before Georgia's 3rd attempt ! both of the same weight and this time they didn't give another chance to Georgia and didn't annul his attempt which he failed !! yesterday they did that for Turkmenistani athlete and somehow didn't let her to win the silver.

Yeah I read about that. when Junpim Kuntatean changed her name to Prapawadee Jaroenrattanatarakoon to get luck and she won the Olympic gold after that even though I prefer to not make fun of other country's culture and respect them all but this one is a bit funny.

hmmm, Martirosyan's entry is much better but then we know Armenians usually post entries much higher than their capabilities. and on other hand Nurudinov usually doesn't show his cards and post low entries. if you ask me I still pick Nurudinov. Armenians are good but they rarely win the whole thing. (actually only one gold in whole history !!)

how come Chayuttra Pramongkhol can easily become Sirivimon Pramongkhol . they change name very easly and frequently. looks like whenever they get bored

maybe they are not alone in this there is a "Bobby Sands" street next to British embassy in Tehran and btw there is no political relationship between Iran and Egypt for something like 40 years for the same reason. A street's name !

feel sorry for the Bulgarian kid. he was sure about winning a CJ medal after his lift. too much celebration but it seems he is going home empty handed unless Om bombs out. Thailand and Vietnam both bombed out in Snatch but won CJ medals

so the only possible World Record for tonight is CJ. with only 120kg in snatch, he needs more than miracle to break the total WR and I don't think he is capable of that tonight. I hope at least he breaks that one WR. I was expecting more . only 1 out of 6 possible WR for the first day and if Om moves up to 61kg for the Olympics as he will for sure. I think these World Standards will remain for a long long time.

yeah I'm glad nothing bad happened. but this guy was too fast, can't remember anybody as fast as him. he is World Junior Champion ,so I guess we will hear more about him in future. he just has to not kill himself. and btw his record in 2018 World Junior champs was 122kg ! that would give him the gold medal in snatch

Damn. that was very dangerous. he was lucky you have to learn how to escape it first when you are dropping the weight.. his 2nd attempt was dangerous too. someone has to stop this guy before the 3rd try.

I usually have that problem when I watch basketball and since I also like to watch the stats at the same times. spoiler sometimes. btw I'm watching this on an Iranian channel and when the Bulgarian came the commentator talked about the history of Bulgaria in weightlifting and how they had a champion Ivanov !! I'm a bit lazy to check but I somehow think the guy didn't really know what he is talking about, (as most Iranian commentators do) Ivanov is a common name in Bulgaria. there is a big chance we have a World Champion with this name Ivanov

you always keep this link open and you don't need TV graphics they should also the NOC code or at least a flag near the name https://www.iwf.net/scoreboard/scoreboard3.php I didn't get it how much but those who are very expert in weightlifting can notice that by color of those weights on the barbel. that's how probably someone in the jury found out that. (who knows maybe that wasn't just a mistake !?? intentional maybe) one thing is for sure it was definitely not 104kg.

yeah I remember that , and also North Korea didn't participate because of visa issues. so many countries won their first ever WL medal last year. that was a "special competition" specially for lighter divisions. which won't happen again. for example an average Iranian weightlifter Ali Hashemi won the gold medal at 105kg, with a record 13kg lower than 94kg gold medalist Moradi !

This is most probably their first and last medal. and only because China didn't care about non-Olympic weights and didn't enter anybody. they should host the last year's competition if they wanted to win more medals this year is no joke. we were missing 9 (most of them strong) countries last year.

unlucky for Turkmenistani weightlifter, she had to try her 2nd attempt "again" because the weight was wrong ! (whatever it was, it was good enough for silver medal) looks like someone got too much excited and forgot to load the correct weight no senior WR attempt , I know IWF set these records somehow "breakable" the last time they set World Standards nobody could even touch some of them for a while. imagine if we hadn't World Standards, almost every single attempt in group C or D was a "World Record attempt" I hope only few World Standards remain after this competition.

the TV graphic shows a summary of what's happening , which is a good thing because mostly in middle of the competition you forget who is leading or things like that but then they show athletes with only 3 first letters of their names for example PAG is first, NGU second and ECH second and you have to know PAG means Pagliaro
