they have a very interesting rule in Japan wrestling. whoever wins a medal here, will secure a spot for the Olympic team. specially in women's wrestling their 2019 World team trial was also like the Olympic trial. if Fumita medals here, Ota has no other option but trying 67kg and I think even today (with 4kg less weight) he could beat their 67kg wrestler who was very weak. his favorite technique (I don't know what's the English word for that but we call it "Fito" in Iran) needs lots of power to excute . it will be hard for him to do that to heavier wrestlers but this guy is fantastic. I would try my chance if I was him.

let's take a look at tomorrow draw, this time I prefer to be more optimistic toward the Iranian wrestlers. 60: 1) looks very easy for Emelin, none of these guys can touch Emelin, maybe small chance for Temirov. but this is actually very good for Temirov. with Emelin being the huge favorite for going to the final. Temirov is next in line for the quota. 2) I can see Ainagulov and Lizatovic winning two matches to face each other in very important QF match. being a former world medalist and most important being from the host nation I give more chance to the Kazakh guy. with Emelin waiting the winner in the SF, they both know they have to win the QF. 3) we have 3 big names in this quarter, Fumita, Ciobanu and Tasmuradov. as far as I know Fumita beat Ota in japanese trials and forced him to try his chance in a non-Olympic weight and today we saw how good Ota is. that makes me think how good is Fumita ?! he lost at the Asian Champs but I think that was an accident. I think the winner from this quarter will go to the final. it's hard to pick between these 3 big names. 4) as usual we have more wrestlers in the last quarter, I see 8-9 wrestlers trying for the quota from this part. they are mostly in the same level. there is no clear favorite here. I go with my favorite wrestler Zholchubekov but this is wide open for everybody. our wrestler in this part is lucky to get TKM in the first round. then he needs 3 big wins for the quota. something like 10% for him I guess. my picks: 77: 1) I'm sure the last wrestler Geraei wanted to face in the first round was Kim HW and he got Kim !! Geraei is probably our last chance for something more than bronze here. the good thing is if you lose to Kim. he can put you back in the repechage. there are some other "good" wrestlers in this quarter, like POL, AZE, GEO, MDA and even SWE but I think the winner of Geraei/Kim will go all the way. Geraei also has to pray for other wrestlers to take care of the Israeli guy. you know why. 2) no huge favorite but still there are 3-4 good wrestlers here. it will be close between Cengiz, Starcevic, Liakh and even Chalyan. I give more chance to the Turk but this is far from being a sure thing. 3) this is the "easiest" quarter in this weight IMO. looks easy for the other Lorincz, the German guy is the Euro silver medalist, he is probably the biggest treat for Lorincz but I think he can manage. 4) there are some good wrestlers here but no need to mention them because we have two very big names here. Vlasov and Nemes. I think one of them will go to the final and bring the other one back for the bronze medal. my picks: 130: 1) on paper it looks very easy for the world champion Semenov. but I know our wrestler Monjazi here is very tricky. he is a big thrower but still Semenov is the clear favorite. I expect Semenov to go to the final, in this case Monazi will be favorite against whoever comes from the other side, UKR or UZB. 2) I think the 2nd round match between Pino and Heiki Lucky will determine the Olympic quota from this side, I pick Pino even though I don't know how much prepared he is. he was training freestyle in past few months. the possible SF between Pino and Semenov will detemine the other quota. knowing how lucky is Heiki. I won't be surprised if Pino finds a way to win the SF. 3) this quarter is the easiest by far, no big name here, the Korean Kim surprised everybody last year but I don't think this is going to happen again. I think Pop from Germany will win the quota. he was terrible recently but this is a draw he could only dream of. I see only the Azerbaijani-Georgian guy a serious challenger. 4) some big names here, Kayaalp is the huge favorite. I don't think anybody can beat him here. the next quota will be between Kajaia and Acosta from Chile. there are some other good wrestlers though. my picks:
-
well our only medal chance Ehsan Rouzbahani is out. he and his coach were kind of celebrating after the bout, but then he lost 3-2. with this scoring system everything is possible. you never know if you are winning or losing.
-
yeah that was in the news, apparently this is the first time for an Iranian player scoring 4 goals in a match in one of the European leagues. btw he is kind of Dutch, Netherlands is his "home" he lives almost his whole life there. aside from his long name, the interesting thing about him is he is also a hero here. he scored the goal which qualified Iran to the 2014 World Cup. he will be always remembered because of this goal
-
he is not the favorite for sure but none of these guys are impossible to beat for him. so yes of course he has a chance, not big but realistic. it's a bit hard to remember every match when you follow 2-3 mats at the same time but if I remember correctly despite the final score, Huklik (CRO) created more problems for Beleniuk.
-
sure, I will write it later today. I'm watching 3 events at the same time right now
-
no way, that guy is an Asian Games bronze medalist but then he only had to beat Yemen for that bronze I think Kyrgyzstan will tech him 8-0 in first period.
-
finals: Borrero vs Surkov Beleniuk vs Lorincz Evloev vs Aleksanyan absolutely no surprise here. Evloev vs Aleksanyan will be a great match. at 86 Lorincz was just lucky. he won the semifinal in Kudla-style ! doing nothing and waiting for the cautions. I feel Assakalov deserved it more. and I'm not sad about Kudla's defeat. yes that ruined our chance for the quota. but Kudla didn't deserve to go to the final. he can't score against any decent wrestler on his own, he is great defensively. Beleniuk only managed to score a single point in par-terre to save himself from a possible late 3rd caution later. that's the only way to beat Kudla. Lorincz beat 3 Asian wrestlers on his way to the semifinal. one of them (most probably KGZ) will win the quota, with two Asian countries already qualifed at 86kg, I think we have something like 90% to qualify this weight in Asia.
-
according to Iranian journalists, he is in Nur-Sultan. they even talked to him. his answer was something like "I will wrestle in Tokyo for sure. here I just didn't want to wrestle, I'm here to support my teammates" yeah that looks good on paper but to be honest 5 or 6 of them were obvious picks
-
of course. NOC wins the quota. not the athlete himself. but Pino was supposed to wrestle in freestyle competition. I don't know why they changed the plan.
-
disappointing news, no Mijain Lopez I see Oscar Pino in the draw instead of him. I was waiting long time to see another Lopez - Kayaalp. where is he !? he wrestled at the Pan-American Games and won the gold.
-
I got 7 of 12 semifinalists correctly. we had more surprises at 67kg (as usual lighter wights , more surprises) even though I can't consider Borrero as a surprise, looks like he is finally fit into this new weight. he was simply amazing. he destroyed Stabler which was just wow !! the Egyptian Elsayed was also great, his QF vs Poland was the best match of the session IMO. and Denmark ?! seriously !!? he was lucky with the draw but he also wrestled very well. Surkov should be careful. he also has to thank the American Collman to beat the Kazakh guy. no more comment about Kudla. I knew he will have supports from the refs, but I was expecting Abbasov to beat our Taheri and then him. but I simply forgot a fact. Azerbaijan don't spend money as much as before. their wrestlers don't receive favorable calls anymore. and that snake Assakalov !! you always have to be worried about him, he always can throw you and pin you. he pinned the Russian despite being 4-5 pts down. he also pinned the defending World Champion Basar.
-
Congrats, I simply forgot about him when I was reviewing the draw last night, to be honest most of your wrestlers have similar names but he was amazing the whole day, winning 3 tough matches, his SF was epic. with both wrestlers falling on the mat after the final whistle. probably the best match of the morning session.
-
just finished watching the 2nd period, yes they considered it a leg foul. but from that camera angel I saw nothing . if you see the reaction of your coach he was very upset and accepted losing 2pts. even Kajaia didn't protest anything. both simply accepted it. I'm not sure because of the camera angel but if you ask my opinion I wouldn't considered it a leg foul. still I'm not sure about this one. and beside that. the 3rd caution was really harsh on Omarov. really harsh. not a fair decision IMO. Omarov has lots of reasons to be angry.
-
I was watching the other QF and was very angry about the match before. I had an eye on Kajaia match too I know he won the match by 3rd caution. but for judging cautions you have to watch the entire 6 minutes. so I can't answer your question. but I assume Omarov feels robbed right now. but this is the shitty rules of UWW, this is up to the refs if they want to give the 3rd caution or not. rules are not clear. as I said in 87kg QF, our wrestler did everything he could in last 2 minutes and still no caution.
-
I think I'm proud of our very young wrestlers today, they did all they could , all 3 of them are still alive in the repechage. even though Tab has no chance even if Borrero makes it to the final. he still has to go through Stabler and Ryu ! Saravi did great at 97, losing only 4-3 to the great Aleksanyan. he had 3 tough matches before this. I'm almost sure Aleksanyan will bring him back into the repechage. but what can I say about 87kg quarterfinal ? why always this guy ? this is the 3rd time this guy Kudla is beating our wrestlers without actually doing anything offensively. Olympics 2016, Worlds 2017 and now this. I give him credit for being great defensively , he is really tough to score on. almost impossible in standing position, but this is not fair. he didn't deserve the win today. he did absolutely nothing. Taheri was much more active, I saw so many times in this tournament they gave a 3rd caution to finish the match 2-1. but of course when it comes to an Iranian wrestler, we can never expect a 3rd caution in favor of us. nothing wrong with Taheri, he did everything in his power to win the watch, they always arrange the cautions in a way Kudla ends up the winner.

first rule in volleyball, never count Brazil out, they always can come back . from anywhere. feel really bad for Argentina, they were playing flawless (it wasn't like Brazil was playing bad IMO) I think that red card in the 3rd set was the turning point of the match, they still had 1 point lead and had to receive the next serve. btw there were several crucial mistakes from the refs. I can't tell which team benefited more. it was for both sides. but it was one of the worst officiating I ever seen in volleyball. they really needed the video challenge system here. most of the calls were random. 1 for yellow team. 1 for blue team I had to shorten my sleep time because of this but it worthed it . I love watching matches like this where both teams play like their lives depend on it. and Leal probably never imagined he will win a "South American Championship" medal someday
-
anybody watching the South American Championship final ? I'm sure I'm not the only one in this forum watching this a bit info for other users to know why this match is special, Brazil won this tournament 31 out of 32 times !! and the only time they didn't win, because they didn't participate !! both teams are here almost with A team , but both of them missing 2-3 star players (Bruno, Lucarelli, Wallace, De Checco, Conte, Sole). still this is a GREAT match, Argentina was leading 2-0 and something like 16-10 in 3rd set. they had 4-5 match points but Brazil came back somehow and stole the 3rd set 31-29. there was also a red card against Argentina at 22-21. from 22-20 to 23-20 it turned into 22-22 because of a dubious call. Argentina was flawless until some point in the 3rd set, but I think it will be like Brazil-Bulgaria in OQT.

in men's wrestling I think yes even though Noumonvi has a chance as I said. even though for other events I prefer to wait until i receive the draw. what I said was only about tomorrow events. but I'm no expert in women's wrestling. but if I'm not wrong you have some good wrestlers there.
-
nope no luck. I think your only realistic chance is Noumonvi. something like 10-20%.
-
draw looks unbelievably unfair for all 3 Olympic weights tomorrow, the main problem is UWW stupid format, for example if we have 40 wrestlers in the list, there will be 8 wrestlers in each quarter draw, except the last one with 16 !!! obviously the last one is supposed to be much tougher. since all semifinalists will win the quota, I will break into each quarterdraw 67 1) Artem Surkov couldn't even dream about such easy draw, from the rest I only recognize Mete Nemes and even Nemes is no match for Surkov. I think Surkov will win this quarter and the semifinal. therfore one of those guys will climb through repechage to the bronze medal match and we will have a lucky Olympian from this part. I think Nemes is much better than the rest. 2) the second part isn't any better. but at least there will be some kind of competition, I think the Kazakh guy Shermakhambet who will have some supports from the refs will be the favorite. I think you never can underestimate Japanese wrestlers in lighter weights. 3) obviously this part is harder than the top half combined (even though still nothing compared to the last quarter) Sahakyan from Poland is the clear favorite. I think he won't have much problems entering the quarterfinal. there is some good wrestlers here to challenge him, Bolkvadze, Ismailov or Aslanyan. 4) just wow, you can see almost everybody here. Stabler, the Olympic champion Borrero, Chunayev, Euro Champion Yuksel, 2018 Euro Champ Mihut, twice world champion Ryu and few other good wrestlers like Islamov. I feel sorry for our youngster Tab, no chance for him here. it's hard to pick someone but if Stabler makes the weight properly to me he is the favorite. my picks for Olympic quotas: 87 1) looks very easy for Beleniuk, he is the gold medal favorite with any draw but since I expect him to make it to the final, one of the other guys from this quarter will win the quota !! I think there is a chance for all other 7 wrestlers, but I think it will be between Belarus or Croatia 2) we have 8 good or very good wrestlers in this quarter, much harder than the first one, I can give almost equal chances to 5 of them, Kudla, Abbasov, Abdusalam, the Georgian guy and our Taheri. only one of these guys will make it to the Olympics because of the draw (unless the winner surprises Beleniuk in the semifinal) I give more chance to Abbasov and Kudla. somehow Kudla always gets help from the refs. 3) Viktor Lorincz is probably very happy now with his Olympic quota almost secured. this is a VERY easy draw for him. maybe his second round match KGZ/LTU will be a bit hard. just that one. it will be funny if Lorincz makes it to the final. one of these guys will win a quota through repechage ! 4) this one is harder, we have Basar, Komarov, Assakalov, Shahinyan, Hietaniemi and couple more. I think Russia struggles more in this weight to win the quota. my picks for Olympic quotas: 97 1) Evloev didn't need an easy draw but he got one. and again one of the other guys will luckily win a quota. 2) this one is even easier than Evloev !! I think this is for Kajaia unless he wrestles very poor. the top half is much much easier . both quarters look like a joke to me. 3) I think there are 7 wrestlers with good chance here, even that Honduras wrestler isn't that bad. I had to think a lot to find a pick here. this is wide open 4) my reaction when I saw our wrestler in this quarter "are you kidding me ? " out of 3 wrestlers why none of ours got something easier. all 3 of them are in the toughest quarter !! (Taheri at 87 is in the 2nd toughest) obviously with baby giant Aleksanyan, he is the clear favorite for the quota. I had a hard time to pick the other guy. because Aleksanyan most probably will go to the final. my picks for Olympic quotas: and I have to admit some of picks were really random. I see I give 3 to Turkey but I'm sure they are not going to win all 3 possible quotas.

I'm starting to think Abdevali is a masochist, he just loves to lose dramatically and then protest like hell ! he had everything under control. Huyseynov was dead tired and then bang. this is happening every year for him. he will most probably win the bronze because the Kazakh guy got injured and the other guys in repechage are too weak. the first day was disappointing for Iran, only 1 wrestler for the bronze and another one in the repechage. I'm afraid we are not going to win any gold medal in Greco. none of the remaining guys are capable of that (at least that's my prediction and I hope I'm wrong of course) Azizli losing to the Kazakh guy was the biggest surprise of the evening session, he was counting on the refs to get the first point but when they awarded the first caution to the Kazakh guy (unfortunately that was an Iranian referee) that ruined his whole plan. he gave up some childish throws. and interestingly Mnatsakanian couldn't make it to the final even with that super draw.

Yes 14:00 CET.

but actually I had high hopes for our 72kg rep, secretly I was considering him a gold medal favorite but damn he was beyond terrible. just a shadow of himself and ruined my mood in the first match of the day. this kid is a multiple world junior champion. VERY talented but it seems talent is not enough in this stage, you need character too. maybe next time. but Abdevali beating Russia somehow made up for that. now he has gold medal to lose. none of these remaining guys are his match. our 63kg Delkhani will most probably have to wrestle for the bronze. he has a good chance, no excuse if he blows it. Maryanyan is too good for everybody. the biggest surprise in the semifinal is Khashimbekov, this guy used to lose to everybody. I remember even 4th tier Iranian wrestlers had beaten him before. I wonder if he improved amazingly or he just got lucky and beat the European Champion by accident (didn't watch this one but since it was a fall, it can be an accident) here is my prediction about the semifinals 55: Azizli vs Tsurtsumia 63: Maryanyan vs Ota 72: Mnat-lucky-ian vs Mantsigov 82: Gobadze vs Abdevali
-
This is just a software mistake, the weight-in isn't in the same time as the draw. but the next day morning. we will have 130kg draw tomorrow.
