  1. The BBC almost ignored Hawkins most recent placing which was plain weird.
  2. Ethiopia had a reserve they could have used if he was not bothered. The BBC commentary was like a funeral a bit ago because Callum Hawkins looks to be off the pace capable of getting in the top 20.
  3. Interesting that it seems that it was allowed to keep someone in the village many days past the 48 hour rule just for flag carrying duties but relatively few counties have done so - with many using only those who have completed in the last couple of days,
  4. should have picked the Artistic Swimming Duo then. Or with the Abe siblings. No idea who will choose. A lot of people thought it be Tom Daley but he has already left Tokyo.
  5. Here in the Uk yesterday the jumping was on the secondary feed of the BBC live with extended highlights shown on the main channel before the entire laser run was shown live while today the British pair swimming heat was shown I think live but the jumping was not (at least not in it’s entirely) live on any channel other than Discovery + but extended highlights were shown before the Laser run was entirely live.
  6. And even rowing will probably improve as the last twenty years have showed most sports are able to improve after a poor showing. Britain has more athletics medals than Germany and France combined which never felt that likely at the start of the Athletics.
  7. And even more so having it on the same day as the show jumping and having one of the laser run’s clash with the start of the evening athletics season. I wonder how many countries showed it live on their main channel outside of the BBC
  8. Is the new format 8 or 12 in the laser run? Samantha Murray on the BBC said eight earlier on but the trial used both formats and I can’t find confirmation that it’s been settled yet.
  9. Chicherova probably retired every time she thought she was close to failing a doping test. How she has not lost the rest of her medals really annoys me - should be one failed test and everything goes.
  10. Big shock - the BBC are applauding Lasitskene due to her criticising her own federation.
  11. The Aussie media will not be happy at her being here in Tokyo.
  12. So the two relay squads where it’s well known two of the competitors don’t like each other win both of the women’s relay.
  13. I’m not sure if her collapse after the race will increase or decrease suspicions about her.
  14. The USA are after that 4x400w world record. Felix, Mu, McLaughlin and Muhammed.
  15. I watched a bit earlier and been following online but why is virtually every Russian score being protested ?
  16. The Times are a bit obsessed by him.
  17. Details within the article reveal Jacobs was the only member of the 100m field not part of the AIU’s elite testing field (I am surprised Adegoke was)
  18. I am surprised they have never swapped the 4x100 with the 4x400 as the sprint relay feels a better end in terms of the fact the 100m runners are usually more famous and the bigger names.
  19. Looks like the Olympics is rating pretty well in Australia.
  20. I’m here, I am a natural pessimist - it gets me through life.
  21. Remember the American media itself only cares about total medals.
  22. It should have been them with the song Sweet Caroline. The good times really have never been so good for them.
  23. Italy should bid for the world athletics championships.
  24. I think with relays they should introduce a rule that says all appeals must be done within say 10-15 mins and after that the result is official no matter what.
