  1. No huge surprise but Isabelle Weidemann is the closing flag bearer.
  2. It honestly feels like no one is watching the Olympics to even care. I think Max Parrot and his two medals will be pretty iconic given him fighting cancer in the same quadrennial - even with the judging controversy. But you are right - those are probably the medals that we will remember years from now. Even Jack Crawford's medal feels like a bit of an afterthought. I'm just hoping the result of Ski Jumping medal is more funding and infrastructure in Canada - even if it was somewhat fluky.
  3. I feel like every Olympics since 2006 Canada has underperformed at Speed Skating. Getting 5 medals and one gold doesn't totally feel like a total disaster.
  4. Extremely disappointing on the gold medal front - the total medals was about where I expected (with a few more shots in Bobsleigh). I was in a wikipedia wormhole the other day and realized that Norway went from 13 golds in 2002 to 2 in 2006. I just am feeling a bit more bullish about our future chances right now. This has just felt like the most muted Olympics.
  5. I’m a bit worried that the German in 4th is going to close in on Kripps. I hate how the Germans always role out their new equipment during the Olympics.
  6. well its not going totally badly right now....
  7. A course delay due to one of the finishing posts blowing down in the wind.
  8. at least some curlers are talking about changing it up. Hopefully Curling Canada listens.
  9. Honestly I’m shocked that Cassie Sharpe is in this amazing form right now. I’m impressed.
  10. In better news a 20 year old Alexa Scott is sitting 4th and the ice maintenance break in the 1000m in Speed Skating. Great to know she did well despite being selected as an alt for the team pursuit.
  11. I find it so fascinating how the Swiss team decided to totally regroup and reformat after a disappointing 2018. That's what Canada needs to stay competitive here. One quad where an underperformance is a miss another is a problem. They need to rebuilt the system - the same old is not working.
  12. I fail to understand who decided the draw shot challenge score was a worthy tiebreaker.
  13. If Jones does not make the playoffs (like its looking now) this will certainly be easier.
  14. It's going to be tough. Not sure GBR will beat ROC yet though....
  15. That is a truly bizarre call...
  16. Marielle Thompson was absolutely impressive! Honestly a silver is so much better than bronze or 4th. On the plus side our streak of golds may have ended but the streak silvers continues!
  17. All the Canadians advanced to the semis in Ski Cross - although with 3 Canadians and Naeslund in one semi it will be tough.
  18. Biathlon too - some impressive results there too, although I'm not sure if Scott Gow would stick around for another quad.
  19. This was just so impressive. Canadian winter Olympic flag bearers have all won a medal since 2002.
  20. I think oldest short track medalist was one of them.
