  1. Track Cycling always feels like a sport Canada should do better in that we do. I think Mitchell would have done better here if Finucane hadn't been on a tear all weekend. Bibic seems like he'll be a medal threat in the Omnium eventually. Pursuit teams looking good for Olympic qualification, Sprint teams look like they'll probably make the cut-off but not certain.
  2. Duenas won a World Championship medal in 2013 and it led to nothing. I'm really really hoping we are able to qualify a men's team, I think its unlikely but there's unpredictability in this sport.
  3. Javier Acevedo posted on Instagram that 2024 will be his last year of swimming. I’m ever hopeful that the mens 4x100m freestyle can win a medal next year but they really are one 47 split short of getting it done atm.
  4. The 400 IM was the third fastest of all time...it’s hardly considered off.
  5. I'm proud of the fact that the men's 4x200m relay took 8 seconds off their time from last year to this year, they didn't make the final but like from one year to the next it is an impressive drop. Should be in the mix for Olympic Qualification
  6. There’s lots of potential for this relay to do well once Ruck is back up to form and Oleksiak is back. If Jansen, O’Cronin or Douthwright can get down to a 1:57 it would be even better overall.
  7. Another Canadian doing a PB with Hugh McNeil in 200m back
  8. I’m at least intrigued. Liendo still won the 100m Butterfly at the commonwealth games when he was far from his best.
  9. The thing I worry about is that many countries seem to have excellent athletes all peaking at the same time. tbh with how they’ve been swimming I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kharun do better at the 100m fly than Liendo.
  10. I think it was a PB for Dergusoff in the 50 Breast
  11. Her time was 54.99 which really isn’t going to cut it for the lead off leg. MacNeil I think went a career best time but it would be great to have another sub 54 split to bring us back into medal contention.
  12. I really wonder if getting her in for both the 400m free and the relay was the issue. Having to conserve energy for the relay may have had something to do with it. I was a bit concerned about the relay for Paris given the 7th place but like Oleksiak being back and Ruck being more on form should bring the Canadian team back in contention. It would be even better if someone like Rebecca Smith could get back to 2021 form.
  13. I think about Sjostrom and Hosszu who has so much pressure at the 2012 Olympics coming in as favourites and hopefully this can get those jitters out.
  14. The mens 4x100m relay was a highlight too - no medal, but they looked strong. I'm curious if we'll ever see Kahurn on that relay.
  15. Why did we put McIntosh in the relay for her to go 54.99 - well done to McNeil who was the only one who seemed to post a decent time.
  16. Well that was pretty much the worst case scenario of McIntosh
  17. Impressive prelim session for the Canadians - so great to see so many people hitting personal bests when it counts.
  18. This is a sport I know very little about, are there legitimate more chances for Brooks and Young to qualify for Paris 2024?
  19. Summer’s first World Record!
  20. It looks like there's an updated psych sheet posted with Jansen on there.
  21. Ahhhhh! What! This is shocking
  22. My piece of solace is that none of our current top swimmers now won medals in 2018 other than Maggie McNeil.
  23. Did he retire for a bit or take some time off?
  24. Summer McIntosh splitting 53.33 on the freestyle relay minutes after going under 4 mins in the 400m is quite something.
  25. With the two golds in Judo and Para Swimming Canada is now 1 gold away from the 2018 haul of 15 (not that that is a huge benchmark but improvement is always good).
