  3. That's the one positive, I love that Padraig now gets his chance and he has been saying all along that he would love to play at the Olympics. He was one of those who campaigned for its inclusion too so I am really happy that he will take his place in the Irish team
  4. That's true but I guess that wouldn't matter now anyway as I can't see any of the remaining golfers getting near the medals. To think this offered such promise not so long ago
  5. So the top 3 Irish golfers withdrew..... lovely
  6. Welcome to the forum, great to see another Chilean user here to join @Pabloffo and in time for the Olympics Have fun and looking forward to discussing with you
  7. Here are a few off the top of my head, I'll try to come up with more soon.... some have already been said so apologies in advance..... General: Finland won a medal at every edition of the Olympics (Summer and Winter) in which they have participated. Will this record come to an end in Rio? i.e. will Finland fail to win a medal. Spain qualified 9 teams for various team sports. But will they win a medal in any of these events? Will the Netherlands finish with more silver medals than any other colour? Will three or more countries win their first ever Olympic medal? Japan will finish ahead of South Korea in the medal table? India will win 8 or more medals? Hong Kong, Chinese Taipei and Singapore will all win an Olympic medal? Latvia and Estonia will both win an Olympic medal? Ethiopia will finish above Kenya in the medals table? Great Britain will finish as the top nation in the medals table in each of track cycling, rowing and sailing? Azerbaijan will finish ahead of Turkey in the medals table? Denmark will finish ahead of Sweden in the medals table? Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt will each win an Olympic medal? Moldova will finish ahead of Romania in the medals table for the first time? Cuba will finish ahead of Jamaica in the medals table? There will be at least one nation who will win 8 medals or more, but will finish without a gold medal? There will be at least one nation who will win 3 gold medals or more but no medal of any other colour? Brazil will win 8 golds or more? Hockey: There will be 1 goal or less scored in any match in the men's or women's hockey events? Tennis: Switzerland will win a medal in tennis? Football: Brazil will win their first men's football Olympic title? Denmark or Sweden will win a medal in Football? Triathlon: Both Brownlee brothers will be on the podium in men's triathlon? Athletics: Mo Farah will retain both his 5,000m and 10,000m Olympic titles? Will there be an all-African podium in the women's 800m? The world record will be broken in either the men's or women's triple jump events? A former Olympic champion who is not the current Olympic champion will regain their title in Rio 2016 (like Felix Sanchez who won gold in 2004 and then again in 2012). Relay events don't count. Will Usain Bolt do another golden treble (100m, 200m and 4x100m relay)? Badminton: Denmark will win a badminton medal? Modern Pentathlon: A non-European athlete will win a medal in Modern Pentathlon? Gymnastics: Romania will fail to win a medal in gymnastics? Rowing: Ekaterina Karsten will reach her 6th Olympic final in the women's single sculls (1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012 and now again in 2016)?
  8. Indeed . Thankfully we don't have similar flags also or else we might have another Slovakia-Slovenia type issue
  9. And so our time has come to leave. Well done our boys in green, you went down fighting and made us very proud. Let the songs and the drinks flow for tonight and we will welcome you home with immense pride. Congratulations France, good luck in the quarter-finals. These Euros have been a pleasure for me, despite the overall perception that the quality of football isn't great. It was heart-warming see our team fight hard, rediscover grit and determination and a huge team spirit that took us to the knockout stages, creating fresh memories all the way. And to all those great fans, thank you . Now is time to celebrate one more time
  10. YEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS!!!!
  11. Good luck to Slovakia too
  12. Well here we go again.... knockout football.... no matter what it's been a pleasure to cheer on the team. Nothing to lose now, believe
  13. Let tomorrow be the day of the underdogs
  14. Hard luck Northern Ireland, you played a great game. McAuley so unlucky but no doubt the whole team can be proud of their tournament. On the other hand, congratulations to Wales
  15. Northern Ireland 1-1 Republic of Ireland (own goal race )
  16. Thank you so much and best of luck to France too. Hope we'll see a great game

  20. The host nation has been allocated a massive 51500 of the 55000 tickets available for the France-Ireland game. Looks like those 3500 Irish fans will have to sing louder than usual. I know France are the host nation but I think that's far too disproportionate.
  21. Hopefully our boys will channel all that support The atmosphere should be electric in Lyon on Sunday... the home fans will no doubt be in great form and I know Irish fans will be in top form and will sing their hearts out because we are just proud to be there. I can't wait
